Yeh - nah. Not an AFP ex-cop, and that's not being disparaging to them.

'They operate in a different realm and in a different environment, with different fiscal responsibilities. I bet you cant find the budget or cost of the AFP MH-17 deployment!

Your comparing apples to doughnuts.

You will never here the AFP turning a profit, yet its an essential for the Brumbies to survive.

Not disputing it too far, but just because the Police Forces aren't looking to make a profit they have a fixed budget and have to meet targets and from that same budget respond to regular domestic situations. It is not an easy task. I do agree that such budgetary and personnel management experience doesn't necessarily qualify somebody for the CEO position at a sporting organisation though. The MH17 example doesn't fly though as that is a totally different bucket of money and is ex-budget and would need to be examined on its own and a cost benefit analysis made for it individually not in the context of the usual AFP budget.

let's get this back on track.

Yes please - but I may need you to point the way.

Thoughts on recruitment next year? Time for a list yet?

Any updates on Bernies contract? On that point, do you know if all the current coaching teams are staying?

I have heard Mitch Third's name mentioned as a possible back worth considering for next year.

Could be a full back option if Toua doesn't improve and can play flyhalf.

Just some quick thoughts on potential signings for next year from the JID:
We want someone to cover for Pocock while he's on sabatical (and hopefully keep Butler at 8), I'd say Woodward from Royals is the best bet.
There's some good competition in the JID for number 8 spots; Jones at Uni, Noa at Queanbeyan, Oakman-Hunt at Vikings, Sioni at Royals, and Rocky at Eagles.
With Dowsett's contract set to expire (and he's not doing much to earn an extension) I'd say we should bring Pedro, from Royals, into the squad.
Losing Tomane really sucks, I hope he finds a way to stay. If we need to replace him, Ferrini from Easts looks the goods. Capable defender, real poacher, and a back up goal kicker (who on earth takes over if Lilo goes down?).
To'omua is a big hole to fill too. Thompson has experience with the squad in NRC and a good combination with Powell, who is (hopefully) our long term choice. Robinson, at Vikings, is also very impressive and I'd be happy to see him in and around the squad.
If we really do need depth at fullback (I still like Toua, and Dargaville should be capable depth) then I'd go with either Duffey, from Eagles, or Johnston, from Royals.

I like your suggestions, all worth considering. For the 7 spot, remember Wells - I would like to see him get some game time to show us what he has as I think he may be a revelation.

Still not sold on Toua. What about shifting him to the wing?

Do we need a 3rd Hooker to replace Moore? Thoughts on who?

What about Benny A? Not sure what he will be doing.

Personally I would be going after Michael Ala'alatoa if we could. We could also chase Pat Sio at 8, but I don't think we him atm.

Wells has been playing 6 for Whites, and is in many ways their talisman this season, looks like a good signing. The way I see it we have him and Fardy for 6, Butler and Smiler for 8, and hopefully can get a specialist 7 in - maybe Colby is feeling homesick? (Edit: at the Rebels until end of 2018)

I'm feeling a bit lonely in the Toua camp! I think his best attributes are positioning and defence, which would be wasted on the wing, and we have guys like Speight, Ah Wong, Coleman, Dargaville, and Taliauli there anyway.

Honestly, I can't see us sourcing a replacement from the JID. Mann-Rea is like the skim milk version of Moore anyway, so I'd be happy with him starting, but maybe we can get Pat Leafa back from Melbourne now that Hanson has secured that starting spot. (Edit: at the Rebels until end of 2017)

Ruan Smith is probably our best tighthead now anyway, and Makin is showing his usefulness as a bench player. Hennie Tui is a talent for Easts, and we also need to remember that we have Anae out there playing well.

Shame about M. Ala'alatoa being tied to the Saders, but I think we have some nice depth in the front row as is. If we were to get an 8, I think Rocky at Eagles is the definite go.

I think we'll have to wait and see if any of those JID players make it to the NRC first, and then see if they're worth signing..........

What are the chances of Andrew Robinson getting a call up? He was a standout for the Aus Schoolboys who beat the NZ side a few years ago (along with Tom Staniforth), if I've got the right person. IIRC he also played NRC last year maybe with the Stars.

Here's something from left field. The Brumbies have signed 17 turning 18 year old from Melbourne. A Fijian unit, with talent. Played in the Rebels 20's then got injured in the semi. Another big loss for Vic Rugby.

This debarcle continues to emanate credibility and public confidence, and really does seem to ask more questions about the board, its capability and recant actions and the ARU's credibility and level of involvement for that matter, when you go from this:

"Pulver backed the Brumbies board and chairman Robert Kennedy said changes at board level weren't necessary."

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/rug...-michael-jones-departure-20160503-gol25g.html

To this in three weeks:

"Former AFP detective and current ARU integrity unit manager Thomson will fill the chief executive job for the next three to six months while the Brumbies search for a permanent boss."

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/rug...l-thomson-as-interim-ceo-20160511-got4ou.html

Anyway, it should soon over be over as I am pretty sure the Bumbies HQ car park (which is part of UC which could be convenient!) is smaller then Balleymore car park, so the Brumbies global search for the best candidate should not take that long.

They'll need to be quick though. All spots in the Brumbies' car park are time limited. If they delay, they'll miss anyone who is there for the allowable time or less.;)
