Who's going to the SCG on Friday to cheer the Afghans against the Poms? :D
People with Ladbrokes accounts trying to catch 6's and land themselves a trip to the Ashes....

That's probably about it so should be easy enough to find a seat in the first few rows.

I'd love to see KP do a stint in commentary for that one.

Throw him in the box with Warnie and Bumble and allow us viewers to enjoy the vocal fireworks as they destroy the England side.

Could also add Freddie Flintoff into the equation although after a few minutes with gloating Warnie I reckon there's a good chance a punch or two would get thrown.

Seths home by plenty & locked in for 2nd in Pool B. Pool A still a toss-up for 2nd-4th but looking like SA v SL given both Pak & Ire are well behind on net run rate.

Still a 3-way battle to see who gets NZ & I still like Ireland's chances.

NZ finally get a decent total to chase, 289 to win & currently 138/2 with current & required rates about the same. Macca failed so it's Guptill doing the damage & Taylor in a supporting role for now.

EDIT: Guptill 100 from 88, Taylor 45 from 66, NZ cruising at 157/2.

Poms have Afghans 90ish/6 batting first.

Some rain around in Sydney.

How good will it be to have a No Result and to send the Soap Dodgers home with only 1 victory from the CWC, over fellow minnow Scotland.

Meanwhile NZ are wobbling towards their target. 34 runs needed from 25 balls with 4 wickets left.
Could this be the first signs of the traditional NZ world cup choke.

Bangladesh making the kiwis work hard for it. 249/6 after 45 chasing 288. Is anything actually riding on this game?

SMH live reporting: The rain has come to a stop and the covers have come off. An inspection is going to be held by the umpires at 1930 local time to decide the status of the match.

Afghanistan were in trouble at 7/111 when rain stopped play.

NZ now need 20 from 17 as a bloke in an orange shirt takes a one handed screamer off a six. He's happy, but NZ are not as Anderson is castled off the next ball. NZ have 3 wickets left. NZ 260-7 off 47.2 overs, chasing 289.

Edit: No choke but NZ worked hard to get home by 3 wickets with 7 balls left. Bangas show that they deserve a set at the 1/4 final table,

Latest from SCG: The AFG innings is officially ended at 111-7 but it will be adjusted upwards by Messrs Duckworth and Lewis. News of that still to come.

Rain Dance needed because there is none showing on the BOM Weather Radar.

Umpires will inspect SCG again at 8:30 local, England innings needs to start by 9:06 at the latest & not be interrupted by further rain in order for there to be a result. Cricinfo reckon England's 20 over target will be 92.

EDIT: just posted on espncricinfo.com:

"8.30pm The game resumes at 8.45pm. England's target is 101 in 25 overs"

Soap Dodgers cruising.

Currently 0 for 44 off 7 overs @ 5.8 RPO.

Need 57 from 105 balls at 3.1 RPO.

This game was 22 minutes away from being called a No Result due to the rain intervention. Damn.

Will the England team be relegated to Associate status?

Recent performance suggests that they belong in the Minnow category.

In recent years much of their team has had to be imported from other nations to make them competitive.

Not only is Afghanistan looking like it won't get a guernsey to future CWCs, what about Ireland? They DESERVE to be at the big table. And then there's Holland. I'd have these three before England and the Windies ATM.

None of them will get better without more exposure.

Unfortunately, the BCCI, ECB, and Cricket Australia have to take most of the blame for creating a dog's breakfast of an international scene.
