Full time domestic 7s goes for........... 4 tournaments. I guess it's a start.

Well I certainly didn't guess those unis. SA and Tas a surprise, but good.
No Syd Uni so they can work on development.......... sounds a bit weird to me. When has Syd Uni ever not wanted to at the forefront of everything rugby? Anyway hope to see them soon when the tournament expands.

Would have preferred each Uni hosting a round. But again, better than nothing.

Tasmania, Adelaide, and New England are the big surprises for me.

Great to see some positive news for the code come out.

Any idea if this will feature anywhere on TV?

I also agree with the sentiment from the comments below the article on the home page about to building it into something akin to the College system in the US when it comes to being an event people turn out for. Honestly, I'd be happy if this evolved into a 15 a side Uni competition if it was able to emulate that.

Good to see its been confirmed that the Women's 7s will be held at the same venue as the Men's NRC games (except the Tassie game):

I note the the Macquarie women's 7 team will be the Macquarie University Sydney Rays. I like that the teams are linked.
Are any of the other teams linked to the Mens NRC teams by name?

1. University of Canberra, ACT
2. University of Adelaide, SA
3. University of Tasmania, TAS
4. University of New England, NSW
5. Macquarie University, NSW
6. Bond University, QLD
7. University of Queensland, QLD
8. Griffith University, QLD

Yeah, it's a solid strategy. Something that I think it is looking to build off for both the Women's 7s and the NRC is the sense of community engagement. Which is greater. More the merrier as far as I am concerned.

Tournament kicks off on 25th August, all matches will be streamed on rugby.com.au, they're already talking about expanding the competition with 4 or 5 more Uni's interested in joining.

Hopefully that is accompanied by expanding the overall schedule to include more events as well. Would have been fantastic if they'd managed to get on TV.
