Listening device's batteries had a life of 3 days and these batteries were still operational when the listening device was found. Therefore, it seems the device was meant for the ABs.

CCTV?????

All Blacks bugging: Man charged over device found in team's Sydney hotel room

A man has been charged over the listening device found inside a Sydney hotel room used by the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.

The device — described as similar to that used by law enforcement and spy agencies — was found inside a chair during a routine security search of the team's meeting room at the Intercontinental Hotel at Double Bay ahead of a Bledisloe Cup match against Australia last year.

The man accused of planting the device is understood to be a security consultant for a company contracted by the All Blacks during their Bledisloe Cup campaign last year.

Do you reckon his defence will be that he planted the listening device so he could monitor the room to make sure no one was in there that shouldn't be?

Disgruntled after not being able to get free tickets to the game off the team?

Nah, I'm predicting unintentional criminality based around being super serious about the security job.

I can't get the image out of my mind that this guy will basically be Paul Blart, Mall Cop.

Perhaps he should have said something at the time the device was found............ or did he place it there and then find it to show how good he was

Is there any significance to the public nuisance charge?

If there was any betting or cheating etc going on surely they would have gone with a higher charge?

It seems to mean he lied police when questioned.

Based on there being no other charges it would seem like there was no link to betting etc.
