Mate I understand you're still a bit sore after not defeating the "really bad" grammar side but it doesn't mean you should come out and discredit their performance. At the end of the day you were outplayed in your own backyard by grammar and lucky to get away with a draw... how embarassing! And btw 5 of the grammar 16As were out injured including our #7 one of our top players. so if you put it that way we were on the same level as you, full of ring ins and non As players. Good luck with the rest of your season

Was a good game. Interested to see how the rest of the season turns out.
Anyone know any other results from the day?

Scots beat Joeys 22 - 18 after being down 3 - 11 at half time.
Solid game, winger Jackson Dowling scored 2 tries. So much for not rating the Scots team this year.

Newington went down heavily to a powerful Kings side, New No. 7 was a shining light in a team on the back foot all game, solid defence and is lighting quick for a forward

After having taken out an albeit below full strength Newington A team 22-0 and an unlucky 12-12 draw in a match they should have won against Riverview without their #7 Abel (possibly the team's best player), the Sydney Grammar 16A's should really be taken seriously at this point in the competition. After a trials record of 9 wins and 1 loss without their 2nd GPS 16XV representative #8 Gorry, their best rugby is surely ahead of them. Flair in the outside backs and boasting a steadfast defence (conceding only 12 points in their first 2 GPS games), their match against a full strength Shore outfit should be interesting. There is one thing which should be said of them, they will never count themselves out and they won't stop working. Shore's team does look much stronger on paper, however they should guard against complacency as Grammar will surely go out fully committed to winning on their home turf in front of some avid newfound supporters.

While I would think everyone should rethink their view on Grammar, it should be made very clear, it was Newington 16 "B"s they played, they had 1 "A"s player that did not go to TAS.

The Shore team that Grammar will play will also be very under strengthened missing star players Jack and Nick Clancy and Jum Woodhill to 1sts and maybe Harry Emery

Grammar 16As will also be affected by the loss of gorry to 1sts, Robertson to the seconds and the halfback and fullback out with injuries.

Why would New do this? The Grammar A's and Newington A's have been very closely matched over the previous 3 years?

The Shore side to face Grammar has lost the following players to opens:

Nathan Lucas, Jum Woodhill, Jack Clancy, Nick Clancy and Harry Emery, so in no way should be considered full strength.

They took the "A"s to play in Armidale that weekend against TAS.
With a limited knowlesdge of TAS, I would hope that most schools would play their "A"s against Grammar.
They are good enough be given that respect.

According to some of the Grammar spokespeople, they seem to be getting along pretty well without some of their star players, so what makes Shore so understrengthed?

Blue ribbon for getting the excuses in early - perhaps SGS supporters in the know could point out that Gorry is in the 1sts thought elligible for 16's.

I know Grammar have a rich rugby history, and I respect that, but given they don't particularly care AS MUCH about rugby as some of the bigger schools they really lack strong teams/players

game of the round this weekend definetly goes to view vs scots, view coming of a draw with grammer and scots coming off a big win against joeys. However the always strong riverview team will be strengthened by the returning crosby, beau, whitely, strain, barlow, and kilpatrick. The return of bowditch molloy, freeman and evan will certainly make it a strong encounter!
