Really impressed by David Horwitz, I think he's just out of school? Looked comfortable and great goal kicker. Should be Aus u20 10

Samoa A beat the NSW Academy 33-24 at TG Milner in a well-deserved win, scoring 4 tries to 3.

There wasn't a lot in it but the difference was that the Samoa lads were physically tough more often than the Academy guys were.

The only Academy players who stood out in their physical approach were 13. Bill Meakes and 2. Hugh Roach - though the lineout throwing of the hooker was not stellar. Come to think of it: big Willie Skelton rampaged a few times in the first half.

The visitors had the home team on their heels a number of times which meant a well-timed pass was always full of danger.

The Academy scrum, with the Ala'alatoa brothers propping, was their best feature.

David Horwitz had an assured game at flyhalf for a young bloke a few months out of school - and it was good to see scrummie Waldo Wessels playing again.

Fainga'a and both the wingers got a double, I think McCabe pulled a hammy though so wouldn't expect him back for at least another month now.

Thought Tom Cox might have collected three tries? Also pretty sure that Etienne Oosthuizen got three.

Pat had his right hammy strapped with ice after the game. SA is probably out of the picture now. He had been showing good form at fullback prior to his injury, injecting himself into the backline and setting up his wingers with some well timed passes.

ACT forwards Oosthuizen, Leon Power and Jordan Smiler all about 15cm taller than Tonga forwards and dominated the lineouts early in the match. ACT scrum also completely dominant.

Zack Holmes controlled the game very efficiently at 10, and would challenge Mogg and White in general play kicking effectiveness. Colby played a lot of first receiver and bent the line all night as well as stealing some breakdown ball. Other players to stand out included Ruan Smith at 3, Oosthuizen at 4, Smiler at 6, Rodney Iona at 12, Jordan Rapana at 13 and Stephan van der Walt at 11. Tom Cox also showed he is learning the game, and has express speed.

Colby is the best of the Fainga'a brothers and he is in such a shit position at the moment - because I am guessing he will be playing most of the year for the Vikings in the Shute Shield - hopefully that does not hurt his chances to get a new Super Rugby contract for next year with hopefully the Rebels. He is to good to either be on the bench or not even be in the game day 22...

Lets be honest even if he stays next year with the Brumbies and will prob make the 22 each week - how much game time will he really get with Pocock there? Max 20 mins in some of the easier games? 5-10 mins in the harder games..

It's been many years but I used to play with Kane in club rugby, Gaffa. Unbelievable that he is in the Force A side playing at blindside because I remember him on the wing!
