Who ever does the right up for the news letter should be given the boot for lack of knowledge.

Head Coach Tony McGahan has made two changes to this week's RaboDirect Rebels team to take on the Hurricanes. Pat Leafa has been injected back into the starting line up, replacing Japanese star, Shota Horie.
An ankle injury to Nic Stirzaker late in last week's game against the Sharks has seen him added to the injured list. Bryce Hergarty takes his spot at flyhalf. Ben Meehan moves into the reserves, providing back up for the Number Ten position on the bench.
yes, you will note that on lasts weeks team sheet stirzaker was listed at 10. probably some poor girl in the office who has no idea.

Yes, I did notice that. If the club can't get something as simple as this right than something is very wrong.

This is meant to be a professional organisation.

Saints have at least another 3 years of ANZAC day at the cake tin, in addition to plenty of Community Camps and outings.

Reports suggest that after expenses, they earned AU$900,000 from playing that there this year, as much as 7 games at Etihad Stadium and 3 at the MCG.

So yeah, not surprised that they continue to "attempt" a connection, regardless of how annoying it is for their dual code fans. :(

cannot understand leafa starting over horie. shota has been terrific the last few weeks and leafa's lineout throwing is still sub standard. i agree pat offers a lot in taking the ball up, but i think horie is a more creative player and can still get the go forward when needed.
dont see that we lose that much by having meehan as the reserve half, i think stirzaker has been off all season, perhaps the ankle has been worrying him all along. certainly his passing is not as crisp as last year on in the ITM games, possibly the way he is getting the ball delivered to him ?
i am hoping the canes have on off night tomorrow and the rebels very good defence continues, we just need to conjure a try or two from somewhere. holding on to the pill perhaps will help.

Fainga'a still at 6
Surely Reid would be worth a start off the bench. He has not had one minute this year and was sent home from NZ when Colby's hip was better ....must be very pissed off! Fainga'a IS NOT a No 6 IMHO

yeah, forgot to mention that i also cant understand the fascination with colby Fainga'a. does some very good things in defence and a few timely turnovers, but has made zero impact offensively as far as i can see, really no line bending or offloads. clearly, as i said earlier until Reid gets a proper haircut he isn't going to be selected ! which is a great shame, because last year, despite a couple of brain explosions and some penalties conceded he was one of the better performers amonst the younglings. he has a bit of the x factor about him, but within the TT framework perhaps too risky. he will surely get some bench time at least when mcmahon is away with the 20's.

I wouldn't count on it - Reid seems pretty fond of the dreads - maybe TT is jealous of the locks - and Timani will be back so that would give him another excuse not to give jordy a run! I think sending the kid back from NZ would have been a real confidence killer for a younling and pretty poor form from the coach.

I've been wondering for a while about TT's attitude towards some players. It looks, from the outside at least, that if there's something he isn't happy with he just rules a line through their name. Jordy being one example, Big Max being dropped for Cruze another. Since Pyle has made it know he's leaving he's had about three minutes on the field (Neville has been good though). A couple of other selections have also looked a bit puzzling as well.

Anyway, hope the weather stays fine tonight. We might see a try fest, hopefully with us sneaking a win.

I think pfitzy is on to the right strategy and I think the rebels have the gameplan to do it provided they hang on to the ball, ie no soft turnovers with spilt pill or crappy kicks. If they maintain their 88% tackle effectiveness and pressure at the breakdown the Rebs might just frustrate the canes enough to be more reckless than usual. This could of course backfire spectacularly because the boys from Wellington do actually have the skillset to do the miraculous.

So, looks like the Rebels pre-game thread has gone. If anyone is keen for a Beer I'll be at PO Hotel before the game from 6:30. Come one, come all. I'll have a few Kiwis there under the 'Rebbro" membership deal - I told them they better be prepared for a 'canes loss :)

Would say it will nearly be a 50/50 crowd tonight, seems the Canes have the biggest following here.

See you at PO as usual.

Agree with this. I've had Shota in my fantasy rugby team since round 1 (started on my bench) so I've kept a close eye on him. His line-out throws are brilliant & he gets around the park pretty well. The decision to pick Pat is on tactics rather than form me thinks though I don't think Shota is bad at taking the ball straight up either. I'll be looking at how this pans out with interest.

Has the Asian 5 Nations started yet? If Shotas been selected, maybe they want to make sure Leafa has some miles in the legs before Shota has to leave,
