Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Isn't it because they proposed an 8 or 10 team comp, with one Pacifika team. Meaning 2 or 4 Aus teams?

^ CEO Robinson & Chairman Impey consistently said the preferred option was ten teams of which one MIGHT in an ideal world be Pasifika-based. At most they questioned Australia's ability to support five teams & to be fair so did plenty of people on your side of the ditch. At no time did either of them specify only three let alone two Australian teams.

Ok boys, that didn't go down so well, what next?
Well, if we take an unduly abstruse, retrospective, opaque run of sophistry - we can say it was something else.
Yeah, maybe. Then we can be the wounded party. Like it.

Bloody Aussies, stupid as well weak.

Actually if you listened to Robinson when he very first spoke of it he said they thought a 8-10 team comp was preferable, and they would prefer a PI team. But what everyone here is completely ignoring he actually said that the 5 NZ teams also had to show they wanted to be in it. the other thing is when it was first talked about Aus only had 4 teams, with the possiblty of Force maybe joining for this year!! But all that seems to be forgotten! remember beginning of year, and tell me how many Super teams Aus had? Also it was a week after Hamish McLennan had been on same programme saying he didn't think Australia had the depth to maintain 4-5 teams without buying in players! His words not mine.

Good to see Rennie outright say the NZ quarantine terms are unacceptable. They're a disgrace if I'm reading this right. They expect incoming professional athletes to be isolated to hotel rooms? Good luck with that.

"Yeah look Mark, we're awarding the whole RC to Aus cos they said the entire squads can train together from Day 1 in Aus whereas you NZRFU pricks appear to have blunderbussed your own dicks clean off by demanding some sort of unintelligible incremental squad release into daily training. Mark? Mark are you there?

I agree it can't go ahead under that. I do agree about 3 days in rooms, and not a disgrace, just sensible rules America's cup teams have done it, as they say they then tested before mixing so anyone with it is pulled out before the infect rest of team. I was under the impression after that they could actually play or whatever in a bubble, well that's what PM said. But having to quarantine in room for 3 days part no prob, f*** em everyone else has to for 2 weeks going there or coming here, but do think after 3 days if they in bubble whole squad should (and I think can) train. I also thought first game was meant to be on 17th not 10th, so I not sure how old the latest write up is.

Yep the pressure is on NZR now. Either they sort that or those two Bledisloes will be over here too.

Unfortunately the f**em is on NZ as they lost the RC over it. Agree that it is not an illogical restriction in virus days, but it did backfire.

I been thinking at work, and I calling it a bullshit article anyway, as I said the tests are on 17th and 24th as far as what I have read, and noone is going to tell me that last Thursday Clarke would of agreed to a schedule that is being claimed. That is when the CEOs had their link up, and it was announced Friday wasn't it? Do any of us really think that little of Rob Clarke?

I suspect SA are going to decline involvement.

Cannot see how they can cobble a squad together. Pollard also with a season ending injury now.
It would be strange for them to agree to have the RC in Aus but then turn around and say they aren't going to come.

Why not just say they can't come to begin with?

Yes, I don't think this is the year to be concerned about world rankings, this is the year to be concerned about not getting paid though. They'll come.

What I said about supposed Rennie comment and Bledisloe?
Not sure, but from what I have read the International window that players have to be released from clubs is either Oct 24th or Nov 7th? How are SA going to get a team assembled and put etc etc with 2 week quarantine in Aus and still be able to play? I assume they doing some negotiations with NH clubs I would think.
Seems the ABs have been told it not requirement for players to come, there is quite a few new Dads etc in team, and thing BB wife is due sometime soon, we could have a very watered down comp if we not going to have all teams reasonably strong. I just can't get my head around how Pumas are going to be here in any strength.

They could just turn out with a purely SA based team.

It would be a shame if it doesnt go ahead, but the logistics do seem quite challenging.

Agree, but if the RC does go ahead,I like it to be a proper one, not with just cobbled together teams that aren't really proper test teams. The only winners I can see out of what is coming is NZ and Aus, and not for right reasons.

SANZAR sits and talks about the money and the sponsors and not much about rugby.

SA Rugby might well be against it, driven by the coaches.

Mixed messages.
