2016 Gregor George Cup (Club Championship) Watch:
after Round 9

There are a maximum of 215 points available to a club each week, based on all 7 club teams winning with a 4 try BP and the target to win is >3000 points which was achieved by 3 clubs in 2014 and the 2015 winner was on 2905 points. In 2014 the difference between 1st and 2nd was only 33 points, with 3rd only 52 points further back. In 2015 there was only 49 points between 1st and 2nd, with 3rd place 113 points further back.

Sydney University, 1483 points
Randwick, 1452 points
Eastern Suburbs, 1314 points
Eastwood, 1295 points
Manly, 1196 points
Northern Suburbs, 1168 points (Up 2 places)
Southern Districts, 1147 points (Down 1 place)
Warringah, 1083 points (Down 1 place)
Gordon, 745 points
West Harbour, 592 points
Parramatta, 510 points
Penrith, 47 points

How the Club Championship table is calculated.
The competition points from the individual competitions are multiplied by the following factors and then added together.
First Grade - 15
Second Grade - 8
Third Grade - 5
Fourth Grade - 4
Colts 1 - 6
Colts 2 - 3
Colts 3 - 2

The 49 point difference between Gold and Silver in 2015 could have been made up from an extra 3 BP in Shute Shield and an extra BP in 4th Grade, or an extra victory with a BP in 2nd Grade and an extra BP in Colts 1 and Colts 2.

You may be right, but his refusal to provide any financial support to club rugby because they would "just piss it up against the wall" would suggest otherwise. Well done to the guys who created the banner quoting the above at Manly Oval today.

I agree. The choice of words was poor and suggests a lack of understanding about the competition and a disrespect for those involved in running and playing in it. It also feeds into the Shute Shield haters on some of the other threads who for some reason are dying to tear it down.

Hearing the crowd was a tad over 7,000 down at the Village Green yesterday, how good is that, and with the early start missed 3's & 4's.

With the Rats taking all 4 grades against the Wiks a week earlier it was going to be a Club Battle at the Village this weekend - all grades want bragging rights not just 1's.

2's was a battle with neither team crossing the chalk, it was the Rats up 3 - 0 going into the last 10 and the Rats concede a kickable penalty, & 3 a piece would have been a fair result but the 3 points give the Marlins the lift and some good carries the quickly bring the pill deep into Rats territory - the Manly faithful in the saucer trying to cheer the boys over for a meet pie. We earn another penalty and opt for the 3 points and take a very lean piece of bacon.

1's - will have to re watch.

Warringah came home with a wet sail, they really should have won it.

Really bad luck for Iona, looked like he lost balance a bit, his break was worth a meat pie under the sticks. And that would have been it.

As you posted just saw the Dennis Pilli Giteau try that wasnt given because the ref didnt see. If we had video ref it would have been awarded. Close tuff game though.

Reminds me of the first scrum in last years NRC when Luke (Rays) and Chibba Hanson (Stars) shook hands before packing down.

For the record, both Mr and Mrs Pulver enjoyed the Wicks -Easts battle at Coogee. They were amongst several of the rugby royal family including Ella, Fairfax, Finnegan, Waugh plus a politician or two . All could be seen near on or near the hill

Thanks for the correction Sid, good to see that he was there. Hope he learnt something.

Okay re watched it, great seeing a score line that reflected the closeness of the game (and this year’s comp), not going to dissect it but - each team had some points left on the paddock.

Dennis Pil-Gaitau, & Junior Palau were creating stress for the Rats for most of the 80 minutes, and Kotoni had some very big plays late in the game.
