I think Shipps is deemed down a rank as he's tended to play and score in a relatively fixed outer channel position and has scored few (if any?) tries in penetrating and evasive cross field moves. Vuna's 2012 show reel probably looks more agile and, in this sense, versatile, as wingers go. But I'd bet Shipps is in the channel zone where Link has wanted him to mostly stay. At Brothers he's played much more all-of-field.

I rate Shipps highly though: what has he done wrong all 2012 (bar maybe that moment in the Cru match, but that's debatable)? His defence is superb, he line breaks almost as well as Diggers and his consistent ball security (a Digger frailty on occasion) is better I'd argue. He's excellent at scoring when tackled on/near the line as he knows how to run in at just the right angle and low to make the chalk under fire. His reward proposition maybe fractionally lower than Vuna, but his risk proposition is markedly better. And outstanding defence will matter big time v Wales.

Has anyone though about what is going to happen if AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) gets injured during the game?

Surely either Shipperley, Foley or Morahan would have been better options than Harris for the bench.

Deans has picked a non fullback to start and a non outside back to provide 15 and wing cover!
I assume Barnes will drop back to 15 and Harris will play 10.

I do agree through - Deans' selections on the bench have confused me. Both Dennis and Hooper, no backup (specialist) second rower and two centres on the bench when we already have four centres in the 15.

I'm a bit concerned about Cooper Vuna in a Wallaby jumper. I think Australia have a long history of great outside backs over the past 10 years: Latham, Roff, Tuquiri, Ashley Cooper, Mitchell, Ioane, Rathbone, Gerrard, O'Connor. I just don't feel Vuna is going to be there for long. Prove me wrong mate! But I guess he is only injury cover after all. Pity, I was looking forward to seeing Tomane in action.

Vuna is a risk, but ball in hand he has shown he is a real handful this season and can find the try line.

But positionally he does have issues in defense

If AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) get injured we are truly fucked.

McCabe and Barnes are both totally unproven at 15 at this level. And Harris is a worse fly half than ben lucas, he should not be playing there in a test match.

2 centres on the bench is silly. This bloke is a fucking nutter

Ok the team is selected and virtually everyone on the forum thinks that there are problems with various positions. As it is not going to change I think we need to shift our attention to the 80 mins and the gameplan.
I just watched a youtube clip on Sam Warburton
He is exceptional and will need specific tactics to limit his impact. I would go with what the AB's did to Pocock in the RWC and run at him to make him the first tackler as often as possible. He wins too many penalties when he is the second man in. But, his defense is heavy as well.

Woah woah did you just say Ashley-Cooper as a GREAT outside back!?

Hopefully Drew Mitchell and Lachie Turner are running into some form come the Four Nations....that is if the Horrortahs every manage to get the ball to them.

We love our team but the administration behind them is a bit of a dogs breakfast at the moment. The players look confused out on the paddock.

It's like the axe: you replace it's head and you replace it's shaft, over and over again, but it's still our good old axe and we love it.

We ridicule the players, ridicule the administration, ridicule the coach and frequently ridicule each other, but it's still the good old Wallabies and we love 'em. :D

Yeah he is. Don't you think? AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has easily been the best back for the Wallabies since 2007, I don't think many on this forum would disagree.

So Queensland Rail schedule train repairs the day of the test and announce that there may be delays for spectators and encourage other forms of transport. Well done again ARU.

How on earth is that the ARU's fault?

Turner is in my opinion a sprinter pretending to be a rugby player. He and Rod Davies don't have the all-round skills to play at international level.

Bullshit. Turner proved himself last year as the 3rd best winger during the EOYT. He is nothing like Davies, in fact he's the opposite. Someone with all the skills but lacks the athleticism of most wingers going around now. He's a very solid player that won't let you down but can still find the try line.

Trying to have no Reds bias here, but I'm suprised that Dom Shipperely has barley got a look in for the wing spot Vuna has gotten. Don't get me wrong I like Vuna, he is a devastating ball runner and knows how to score tries, but so does Shipperely.

I completely agree, I even wanted Shipperley over Tomane. Shipperley is someone who has shown a great deal of winger skill in all areas of the game.

What is it about Aussie Rugby and syndes-bloody-mosis injuries? Or is it just me, because I'm only giving a shit when it happens to Aussie players?
