Is hooper able to kit up this weekend? He can’t train so he won’t be picked obviously but I’d have him as the 24th man, his contribution during the warm up would be invaluable. Worst case he’d be the water runner I guess

Grant does the meat and potatoes stuff okay, he's quick to the breakdown, tidy and throws a good pass, but has no running game, no kicking game and is a poor defender. Mark N (Nawaqanitawase) simply doesn't have defence in his repertoire, and doesn't like contact in general.

I don't know what it looked like on TV, but on Saturday, it was really obvious that Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) was contact shy, not wanting to get too involved in attack or defence. It appeared that in attack he just tried to jink and jive, but didn't really go anywhere (like he was running on the spot).

Yep, I can see him being cast aside - he doesn't offer enough at the moment, being picked up somewhere where he finds his "mojo" so the Tahs can be again blamed for there lack of foresight and development

The kid lacks any particular skill or attribute that define a winger. He has no notable pace, he is shockingly weak in contact, he can't beat a man and has absolutely no idea how to defend a wing.

7's would definitely be good for his development. It would really force him to work on his 1on1 tackling.

In his first season he could step around players like anything, he had speed at the drop of a hat, he was a fantastic finisher and try scorer. But he sucked in defence.

His second season he looked stronger but couldn't outrun a prop, anyone and everyone could read what he was about to do so he couldn't successfully step around anyone and continued with his defensive woes. This season has been about the same, but he's hitting up contacts more now at least in this weekend's game. Not as afraid of everyone out there.

7's sounds like exactly what he needs. Would love to see him try it.

I don't know whether it's sevens or Shute Shield, but while I appreciate his natural atheticism, he's clearly not a Super standard player at this point in his career.

No one at the Waratahs has any top-end speed so he's not alone in the regard.

His other weakness (apart from tackling) is this absolute obsession to carry the ball in one hand and try to offload in every single tackle, which generally results in either a poor pass or the opposition ripping the ball off him in contact.

Sevens will definitely improve his defence and allow him to build some confidence ball in-hand - just don't expect him to come back as a significantly more complete or skilled player.

He’s alright in contact with the ball, he just has some absurd need to offload everything and anything.

Positionally in defense he’s shocking. Cant overly tell if he’s okay in defensive contact or not because he’s always caught in the cold and having to make a flailing arms tackle or just doesn’t get near the guy.

7s would dramatically improve his one on one tackling.

He is not. Setting aside the one handed glory passes. He is weak in contact, i don't think I've ever seen him make a post contact metre and he struggles to maintain possession even when he's holding the ball properly.

I agree with reg as he has done me spare with his (lack of) defence but I don’t deny he has raw talent and actually I think sevens for Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) is a great idea.
