1) because its easier to shout from the stands - I distinctly remember games back at Ballymore in the early 80s, supporters yelling out "Red Red Red"
2) because its cardinal red (https://www.colorcombos.com/colors/BD2031) not maroon

Is St George in NZ? Are Westpac?

Maybe it is simple as wanting trans Tasman advertising???
I doubt St George is in NZ as they aren’t in Vic anymore Westpac rebranded St George down here bank of Melbourne. I would say you are right as to why they changed

Just starting to get a little worried about our start for the season. Perhaps it will be relieved tonight. We generally start the season slowly and we’ve had a terrible pre-season. The Stiles effect concerns me too.

Then next week we face a hyper confident Tahs at a pumping Leichhardt. Then the next we are the first team to travel to Perth to face the Force.

A bit nostalgic for me. Bank of Melbourne used to be a client of mine, so did St George Building Society, before they became a bank. Westpac took over Bank of Melbourne 20 odd years ago, a couple of years later they took over St George Bank. Bank of Melbourne was originally RESI Building Society.

So biggest issue out of this weekend for me was our lineout success - only 70% success on our own throw isn't great and the stuff ups often hurt our momentum and wasted good attacking opportunities. Given the tahs discipline issues getting this right could make a huge difference to our ability to control the game. I'm not really sure what they can change beyond focusing in on it in training though, I did feel the problems were starting with Mafi's throwing and I definitely wouldn't be dropping him for any of our other hookers.

On a positive note, we played better than I was expecting and our defense was rock solid (even if the Rebels didn't challenge it much). If it holds well for the first 60 minutes we shouldn't have too much trouble putting the tahs away towards the end of the game - they fell off pretty badly when the bench came on and their scrum in particular was awful. Will be interesting to see if Ruan Smith makes their bench, he should improve their bench scrum but I don't think he played in any of the trials so he might not be available yet.

Stewart and Flook will be key to nullifying Foketi and Perese. They are their attacking thrust.

Swinton and Wright both big chances of being unavailable. At least we have McReight (and I'd go Uru).

Yeah, I can't see anyone coming onto the Bench before Uru if Wright is out injured. The only other changes I'd be looking at are Paisami back if he's fit and possibly dropping Zander out entirely for Fotuaika, but I'm not sure on that one yet.

Maybe....or a case of Westpac slowly consuming their wholly owned brands into one unified marketing unit and mitigating customer loyalty damage via some feel-good stealth.

Dare be it for me to be cynical about banks.

Tupou has no real competitor so never under threat, but he does need to do better. Daugunu I still want to see more from, but was less rusty and improving. Certainly now little doubt at starting.

Campbell and Wilson both responded to the challenge.
Campbell was immense. Wallabies 15. Refund Beale his airfares.
Quite surprised at this performance. Let’s hope he can keep this form.
