CAS Rugby 2022

Number 7

Darby Loudon (17)
Was interesting watching a very good Trinity 15As beat the Shore 15Bs. Their 9 / 10 combo was sharp. Why Shore played the Bs I have no idea. But I hear the Trinity Bs played Shore Ds - little bit suss but can't say anything obviously.
Shore 15D’s didn’t play today.

St Pats 15A's beat Trinity 15A's on two occasions.

Shore 15A's beat Pat's 15A's yesterday I believe 40-0 so if Trinity would've played Shore A's, I couldn't imagine it'd be close.

Waves and Oakhill played a 40 all draw!
Waves led 28-12 half time but Oakhill scored some terrific 2nd half backline tries.

A fair result, a game of excellent school boy footy!
Missed the last 10 minutes yesterday as I was helping my young bloke hobble to the car after getting injured on the stroke of halftime (QP is not the place to get an injured leg with the parking situation) Just wanted your take on the Oaks player being taken out in the air from the last kick off. Ref apparently had his arm out for advantage, Oakhill had 2 plays behind the infringement and knocked the ball on with the ref calling the knock on against Oaks not the penalty to Oaks. are my mates seeing the world through maroon and yellow glasses or a reasonable assesment?

My mate told me the Barker vs Riverview game was sensational, why is no one talking about it?
Went to the Tahs game and they were the curtain raiser for it so i watched it to, absolute cracker of a game with View having a lead of 26-14 at half time. The second half started slower than the first with the tries coming in towards the end for a result of 31-33 to barker. Barker did see a yellow card early on and another one later i believe but not sure. View also i believe had one in the second half. Most of barkers try’s were from simple pick and drives where as Views try’s came more from the back line. Overall great game of footy and good to see lots of school boys and girls supporting their teams.

Agree, it should have been a penalty IMO. I did think the Waves were going to win by some margin at half time but the Oaks certainly thought otherwise. The Oaks backs put on some good long distance tries, some real speed out wide. It was a strange type of play by the Waves, in the last 2 games, especially against Shore, our backs were electric. Yesterday our forwards were the dominant part of our team, I suspect that was due to the conditions and what the coaches told them. I think Oaks will win the ISA, and Barker/Knox are favs for the CAS, especially Barker, but Waves are a slight chance. Oaks have played Barker, your thoughts?

Was out there as well and you go gee those schoolboys are big then the main game comes on and you go maybe they aren't that big after all. But the hill was slippery as fuck and funny to watch all the RM wearing legends try and make their way down with a tray of cans.

Thanks for your honest feedback WLF. Oaks have played many of the top CAS/ GPS teams in the trials. As happened yesterday the pick and drive or rolling mauls have been the main source of points against us. In CAS add Katoa to Barker ( the best junior I have seen in junior rugby since my son started playing) will win. Knox are very strong in the forwards and Jarah is used very well as a decoy or just as well as a strong ball runner with skillfull offloads and support around him. Waves can do anything on their day and are strong in both forwards and backs (Nice work with 1 & 3 yesterday as decoy or runner in the backline from lineouts as defenders have to make a choice.
As an aside it was what rugby is all about yesterday. My son (Oaks second rower) got tackled by his mate from Waves ( #1 Kai) and has seriously damaged his ankle. Kai Stayed on the ground with him and didn't leave even though play went on. results are great but friendship and mateship is even better.

Hope your son bounces back quickly, mine was out all last season after 1 minute of the 1st game, so I share your pain.
These days given all the club games played a lot of boys know each other well, but sportsmanship, and mateship, is paramount in any game.
Yesterdays game was entertaining given the ground was damp, pretty sure the same everywhere is Sydney.

Good luck with your son HS…. How long is he out for?

Yes I heard the support was pretty good from the sidelines. Any standouts from either team that are worth noting?

Well, that was fun, but this week it gets serious.

Barring huge upsets, though, the results are quite predictable.

I'm saying that Waverley (at home) will beat St Aloysius by a lot; that Knox (away) will be untroubled by Cranbrook; and that Barker (at home) will run over Trinity.

I'd love to see an upset in there somewhere, but I don't.

Agree Snort, But Waves are at Aloys, don't think that will matter. Unless Trinity and Cranbrook can produce some upsets, I think it's fair to say that the last 2 CAS games, Waves V Barker at Death Valley and Knox v Barker at Barker. Waves play Knox at Knox in game 2 , but that won't necessarily decide the comp.

Knox are at home against cranbrook. I also don’t see an upset this week. When is katoa back for barker? I’ve never seen him play but looking forward to it. Hopefully he’s back for CAS v GPS. I assume he’s a walk up start at 10

nah I was watching the As game and the Trinity As were a better more cohesive team than Pats - last year Shore and Trinty's 14As played each other and the game was a close one. Think they got the games around the wrong way.

Interesting take WLF,
Wouldnt of guessed you'd back aloys against the college of knowledge. VV til I die
Hey footybevscones,
The funny thing when the schoolboys hit the forum, ( nice editing of what i didn't say), is that you always give yourselves away!
It should have read, Wouldn't have guessed... back to class!

Hey footybevscones,
I know some would see this as the result of the season, but those A boys are looking so damn good. I think they’ve easily got the best tight 5 in CAS and their resounding win against grammar confirmed my suspicions. Viva la Aloys for 2022!!!
Couldn’t agree with you more here WLF3, let’s keep that Aloys train running to the chip!!
