I recall Dave Roberts' captains speech at the rally as one of the best. It had a biblical theme, something along the lines of Mr Fenech parting the seas and leading them to the promised land at Tarban Creek where they did win the first premiership.

It went something like this.....

In the beginning there was Rugby. It stood tall and firm, and the Brothers saw that it was good.
However, one hundred years on, a small band of warriors braved tradition and set out on a mighty quest.
A star appeared; it beckoned the warriors to leave the holy land and enter the forbidden game.
These mighty warriors followed the star for many days and nights, until a miracle occurred.

From the depths of the earth's fury, waves of hot ash spewed up out of the water, creating the mountains.
Once the earth had settled, the warriors went down to the edge of the waters, summoning all their powers.
And lo!, the waters of Tarban Creek parted before them, and they walked between the giant walls of water.

As they journeyed along the creek bed, the walls of water began closing in, capturing the weak.
But, triumphant, the strong survived to see and enter the Promised Land, Tarban Creek Meg a-stadium!

The steak was quality, yet inflation has come early at Joeys. $10 for any steak sandwich at the footy should be outlawed.

Prices are up as the Rowers BBQ is their major source of fund raising. They have missed out on 2 years of income and hence the prices have been risen. Joeys rowing community is very strong to fund raise (two of mine rowed) as this sport is very expensive to maintain.

I understand the strong rivalry between the AAGPS and CAS so I thought I would come here in peace and ask.

Other 10's who have proved themselves for more than 1 game, the majority of the tries on Sat were single handedly set up by the 15 as well

No they weren't H4L...
Joeys scored 5 tries v View:

1. set up by strong run by MJ, flicked to OJ who scored in the corner
2. good pass from No6 put Caleb Murphy a clear run to the corner - no MJ involvement at all
3. single handed barging run from OJ to score near the posts like a prop - no MJ involvement at all
4. forwards try following a 30m rolling maul, scored by No5 - no MJ involvment at all
5. typical jinking run by MJ, flicked to right winger who scored out wide

So Max J set up 2 of the 5 tries and had no involvement with the other 3. Hardly a majority.

Of Riverview's 4 tries, two (the 2nd and 3rd) were solely due to bad defence lapses by Joeys. They have some work to do on their defence systems before the first comp game.

Tidy player with a very solid kicking game and good game management skills

Size from Scots back line might not beat Newington’s speed though. J. McLean, Barton, Siteni and McGregor are all GPS 1st place sprinters.

Grayson Reimer and James Kotis for scots both have incredible pace, Kotis sprints at U20 NSW level and Reimer is one of the best runners in year 11 GPS.

I believe James Kotis is entered to run in the upcoming U20's Oceania Athletics Championships, an incredible feat considering he is still in school

Zach will be apart of the gps 16s team.

from my knowledge only one player has skipped the 16s team to play in gps 1 and that’s Joseph Sua'ali'i. anyone have any thoughts on gps 16s team or a predicted lineup ?

Leo jaques, Finnlay bartlett, Toby Brial and Zach all most likely locks for GPS 16's.

Can’t say I agree. His kicking game was good (especially attacking kicks, where he kicked to hit), but the joeys 10 outmatched him on exits and general play (eyes up footy). He looks quite good despite only playing one full game this season. However, the Riverview 10 does have a good feel for the game.

The Riverview 10, is a very 'game smart' player, whose ability to make plays for himself and team mates is unmatched. He reminds be a bit of Josh Matavesi (

) - a bigger body 10, with some nice flair and an old Riverview 10, Dominic Easy (

) - who I believe finished in 2017? (please correct me if I'm wrong). For a kid in Year 11, his composure with the ball is seriously good but definitely has room to improve in the decision making department. I think he'll be one of the better players in 2023 and should be looked at to play GPS 1s next year, but I would love to see him in a blue and brown jersey this year.

In my opinion on last weekends matchup between the opposite numbers, there was no real clear. However, the game was won through the wingers and I felt the View 10 was better at exploiting Joeys wingers when it mattered most.

Absolutely no comparison here.

Fowler is a special player, his organisational skills and kicking game are very good. I think that as long as he has a decent game against Shore he will get the job. My guess, Is that his reputation with selectors and past form will offset his very limited game time this year and will see him home if it is a close race. An alternative would need to be in rare blistering form and from the games I have seen that alternative doesn’t seem to be out there.

Fully agree. Lets also remember that there is also only one game remaining before the GPS vs CAS games (June 21st)
