Wallabies 2023

I wonder if we see some of the Australian eligible players in the prem who were yet to be capped repatriated. Might depend on the relationship Eddie had with them, but if he was in their ear about playing for him it could certainly help. Louis Lynagh is the first that comes to mind, but I imagine there are a few floating around.

Does anyone have an idea what the salaries of the top international coaches are?

Foster, Rennie, Jones (at England), Gatland, Farrell etc.?

I would still want a last ditch attempt to bring him home. He said in the past he only left to try NFL because he had no offers here, and his Family is still here. It does seem like he's made his mind up though
He's playing for France in the 6 Nations next year, he's worth so much more to them than he is to us.

I believe Eddie was on £800k ($1.4m AUD) a year for England though that did dip during covid. He was apparently the highest paid coach at the time, I doubt RA would be meeting that threshold. I think most of the tier 1 coaches are either side of $1m AUD.

SMH reported Rennie was on 1m in 2020 when they were going through pay cuts due to covid. Eddie was said to be on 800,000 pounds.

I imagine Gatland wouldn't be cheap for Wales but less than that.

assume England are paying his salary this year? He would have got a pay out right?

Helps us stretch the costs a bit. Plus all the income to come from winning the RWC

Good point, kind of makes it even more insane that this is happening this year rather than next.

Which is why I think they've included 'overseeing the Wallaroos program' as a financial kicker..

Hard to justify getting close to $1.4M to coach the Wallabies, but if you've got him 'overseeing' the women's program, that's worth a decent additional chunk of coin.

He also allegedly had a lifetime deal (8 years) with USA rugby on the cards.

Of course, we will likely never know the truth of any of the other possible deals, but you can't imagine he's coaching Australia for free

He also has an ongoing deal with Suntory(?) (or one of the the others) and does a couple of weeks coaching a year and has done for years

The 'Australian style' as stated.
