I believe Angus Sullivan was robbed of being in that team he is way better than Dowling.i was very impressed with jonas dowling no 16 for NSW Schools 1 looked like he was told to target felix turinui in the game this arvo and did a magnificent job of smashing that weazel
someone please get rid of the school kids
Yeah... schoolkids on a school Rugby forum - what will they think of next!?someone please get rid of the school kids
F SWell done to the CAS boys for making Australian schoolboys.
Waverley:
Felix Turinui
Darcy Stanfield
Noah Tofoaeono
Knox
Max Roach
Trinity
Dane Mitchell
the fact that two of the Waverley boys had to be selected from the club rugby pathway (in front of their CAS counter parts) highlights the poor CAS selections yet again.
Turinui and Standfield were phenomenal. What is with the CAS selection process? The way Turinui controlled the game at 10 looked too natural to him, why wasn't he the CAS 1 or 2 flyhalf? Maybe they need to revert to internal trials where they can see how top players perform against each other.Well done to the CAS boys for making Australian schoolboys.

Well these 2 also play together for Randwick at the State Champs that went through undefeated. Great combination.Turinui and Standfield were phenomenal. What is with the CAS selection process? Would it be possible to cut and paste both Aust team lists here.
Thanks
This years really exposed the issues, a lot of us have known for awhile. Waverley had a tough trial period with significant injuries, this has not only disadvantaged those injured looking to be selected in CAS but the whole team, with new combinations etc. The issues are we can’t push back the rep period, as then it would clash with trial and hsc preparation.Well done to all those boys.
But it is important to understand what those teams are.. They are not a Schoolboys side of old.
You can only be selected in those sides if you played in the schoolboys tournament this week - so that excludes anyone selected for Waratahs, Waratah White, Reds, Reds Grey, Force, Brumbies or Rebels sides and playing in the ARU Academy tournament (as well as anyone injured) - something like 5x23 + 2x15 = 145 Schoolboys + U18s., and accounting for the lack of depth in some teams, maybe 75-100 Schoolboys who feasibly rank ahead of these sides.
So in a position where a particular association (GPS or CAS) is quite strong, its quite feasible to miss out on association selection and make it to the Schoolboys team.
But it also shows the issues with starting the CAS season so late (only 2 of 5 games played), whereas GPS had played 6 of 10 before selections.
It’s not.Well done to all those boys.

Yep pretty clear cut the errors over the past few years. Impacting on players selections, also impacts potential rugby careers and with the losses for CAS despite the strong school performances, the selectors are clearly getting it wrong. It’s not.
But Felix Turinui jumped ahead of the two 10’s selected ahead of him for CAS in this selection and Noah Tofaeono jumped ahead of the entire seconds backrow. On top of Kaleb Colt initially being selected as a reserve prop and Niulala being dejected as a backrower.
This just highlights some of the issues with the CAS selectors.
Same thing happens in GPS when 16yr olds are elevated to the Opens which sounds fantastic but physically I’m not so sure. Who’s taking the blame when an 18yr old lines up and seriously hurts one of these younger boys.It is strange for the selections to be so different from eventual outcomes. Australian schools selectors are also welcome to their own opinions, but to be so different is rare.
It’s also a really recent phenomenon for u16’s players to be selected in opens. So it must be a new policy for CAS player development for future years. Which if that is the aim is positive. As long as it is not at the expense as other potential selections.
Not good when you look back CAS u16 team…most did not feature in any of these teams ( or the Sydney team)
Teams are definitely dominated by GPS. A reflection of a particularly strong GPS age group? Not good when you look back CAS u16 team…most did not feature in any of these teams ( or the Sydney team)
