I would just like to say how appalled I am with the one some of the posters on here put some boys down. In particular that poor Cayleb Williamson boy. For people to come out and not only say that he is "the weak link" in a team but also to say he is carrying a bit of extra weight is just down right awful. I would hate to think what any of the people on here would have to say about my poor little nephew Clifton Setu. Please guys just stop with all these hurtful comments and just talk about the positives :)

Just regarding the hype surrounding Padua first 15 for next year. Padua possible first 15 side 2014 played a match against St. Kevin's Melbourne who fielded several Victoria state players. Padua ran rings around their favoured opponents en route to a 76-0 slaughtering. Missing 2013 grade 11 firsts players Jordan fewings, chris Morris, Connor gentile. My prediction - strong contenders for next year, if not outright premiers.

You forgot to mention the score between the firsts of st Kevin's vs padua which means the younger players struggle to handle the pressure and hype of the bigger games which will be a major factor for the AIC competition in 2014. 2014 will consist of young players therefore the team who handles the pressure better therefore that team will be successful throughout the 2014 season and padua need to learn how to handle the pressure or will not contend for the premiership.

All the grade twelves played that game except 3 player that were in grade 11 the rest of the team including bench were full of inexperienced grade 12s who were invited to play as a gesture of their commitment to rugby and final year in school. You can't really call that team inexperienced and young when the team consisted of grade 12s. The 16s game were outstanding and dominated that game with great composure. St Kevin's never scored a try even when Victorian representative Jacob Elordi went over he was held up and the 16s team were put under pressure but relieved it over intense defence.

Mate I don't recommend geeing up your Paduan team by referring to a dead rubber match win against a Victorian school team who would probably run last in the TAS comp in Brisbane. You're not doing yourself any favors!

Hasn't been a lot of a chat surrounding Ashgrove's 2014 1stXV team. I imagine the old boys would be pretty keen to turn things around after a few average years. If the rumors are true, don't be surprised to see some new faces in the bumble-bee across a number of age groups next year. 260 boys per year level isn't enough to choose from apparently ??

Marist front row looking very dominant with a return of Jack Oconnor (102kg) from injury, also Daniel Bryne, James Lancashire, Connor McHugh, Patrick Beverage & Sebastian Fahey all having First experience under there belt, Marist will be a hard team to beat in the 2014 AIC competition

Bit of talk regarding the Marist forward pack, totally agree that they will be a force to be reckoned with. With courageous (and likely captain) James Lancashire returning for another year aswell as Patrick Beveridge who plays in the back row, Marist forwards will be hoping to salvage a disappointing 2013 campaign. An X factor to watch out for is a boarder by the name of Jack O'Connor. Brings size aswell as skill to the front row ( weighs over 100 kgs and still has a bit of pace). He was injured this year but is a real mongrel and I believe could dominate the competition.

Why wasnt caleb Williamson suggested he is a great player much better than Lancashire. Has AIC one ever had a year 10 ( for next year) in the side it would be astonishing if Tom could do that with his size

Chris Morris recently played in a rep team for Brisbane. After being originally picked as a starter he was benched for Ashgroves Louis Gannon. Gannon is likely to play seconds or either thirds for Marist. Just goes to show the depth of Marist and also that maybe Morris isn't the bees knees like you say.

One of the obvious differences between the AIC and GPS competitions, particularly in recent years, is the size and athleticism of players. The majority of GPS rugby players at 1stXV level have specialized in rugby, therefore freeing up more time to spend in the gym during the off-season while many AIC players are participating in other sports - cricket, volleyball, basketball etc. The elite AIC players can match it in size with the GPS boys, but on average the size and strength difference is quite considerable.

I know Eddies have had an S & C program running for a number of years now and and the results speak for themselves, AIC athletics champions for a few years now. The Eddies team have also fielded a 1stXV side over the past few years that look like proper footballers. Pats have also had a gym program which has seen their sides bulk up. So what are other schools doing ? Padua's and Lauries 1stXV sides this year looked like soccer teams.

Are all AIC 1stXV squads in the gym yet ? What sort of weights are being lifted ? I know the Nudgee 1stXV squad could all bench around 100kg if not more, and squat a lot more than that. Are any AIC teams anywhere near this ?

I know that Marist College have already started a weights program and the whole squad has already been tested, this shows the commitment Marist college are putting towards 2014 which will help their results very much in the AIC competition
