I agree that two of the games this week will be close and important as to the final order of the competition. Coming into Round 5 we see 4 sides equal on 4 points. Who would have thought that at the start of the season?

The other game sees the unbeaten side play the winless side. Knox versus Cranbrook. A totally different scenario from this time last year. Knox should win and I imagine they will want to see an improvement in their form and confidence. Does anyone know when their injured players return? Cranbrook seem to be playing without luck, confidence and too many regular 1st graders. It could be a long day for the visitors up at Wahroonga.

Waverley versus Aloys will be interesting. Both sides can play a free flowing and attractive style of Rugby, but Waverley at home tend to be perennial favourites. Both are off close losses so I think this game will be based on the respective side's mental states. The loss to Knox would have been quite galling for Aloys, but Waverley has come off the boil a bit as well. At home and with superior depth Waverly should be too strong, but I think Aloys are the form side. So I lean a bit that way.

Trinity at home to Barker. Both coming off wins, but Trinity is the most improved team in the comp (or least rated originally) and should be too strong at home. Barker are a smart side and have better depth, but haven't the core group of strong players that Trinity has.

Cranbrook is in something approaching crisis with an away game against Knox coming up. There are now at least five first-choice players out injured, including the captain, Stenmark, best forward Tom Hill, and CAS representative Wilson. Oddly, Stewart, who was excellent in the Seconds last week, is still there. It's hard to see an upset at Warawee this week.

But elsewhere there should be two good, close games - Trinity and Barker should be a tight one, as will Waverley and St Aloysius.

Fullback Harrison Stewart looks to be an outstanding talent and its a bit hard to work out why he's not in the 1st XV, especially in a team that needs all the help they can get.

Knox by 50 over Cranbrook
Waverley by 2 over Alos
Trinity by 10 over Barker

IMHO regarding the race for CAS 9 and 10 spots, it's either the Waverley or Knox 9.
In the absence of Dainton from Alos, it's the Waverley or Barker 10.

Considering past performances, I think it will be Knox by a huge margin
Aloys by 10
And trinity by 12

From what I have seen so far, Thompson (B) offers a more orthadox attacking style at 10 compared to his league counterpart Bailey (W), however Bailey has been consistently superior in defence.

I have a feeling the CAS I side this year could potentially be a little controversial as there are multiple contenders for so many positions

You may be right about the controversy but there will be two teams named. btw it's Jordan not Bailey

Couple changes for Trinity this week, Dustin Pham (7 last week, taken off in ambulance) is out this week as well as his replacement, his brother Domenic Pham. Alex Connolly (11 last week) moves to 7, a position he played in A's rugby from 13s-16s. This opens the spot for Barbati (2nds 13 last week and CAS 2nds last year) to make his first start for the season.

David Barbati is a phenomenal player. Watched him in 16's and had great pace. Took that into year 11 and was an unstoppable force. Deserved his selection in CAS 2nd XV and I cannot understand how he is not starting for Trinity this year. Big mistake by them in my eyes.

I wouldn't say that he is as much of a game changer as your expecting him to be, looked to have lost a bit of pace and strength, most likely due to the injury. In saying this though I'm sure he will hold his own as he is a solid all round winger but we shouldn't expect his return to the firsts to make a drastic change to the results

Interesting changes for Trinity. Dom Pham (playing in 18) had a very good game as a substitute, but Trinity does not want for size and power in the pack and a fast #7 leading the charge to the breakdown looks a good move. Barbati is a seasoned performer and adds a touch of class to a backline that has improved in every game this year.

This could be a tough game for Barker if Trinity's powerful forward overrun them, but over the years the boys from Hornsby have consistently been tough, organised and played a good brand of rugby and buoyed by last week's win they will fancy their chances.

Should be a terrific game of footy.

27-18 final score, Aloys def. Waverley. Waverley lead 18-17 but a penalty right in front and them a runaway try sealed it.

Knox 52 defeated a surprisingly tough Cranbrook 23. (Seven tries to two)
knox definitely needs better software on the fancy scoreboard.
Knox showed some good touches but are still not travelling as well as they would like. Cranbrook 12 was good. Neither kicker, both the 10s missed a kick at goal.
Quite a gloomy afternoon; dark, cold and miserable

This competition is an odd one. Despite there being a definite leader and definite cellar dweller, it is marked by a closeness of sides judging by results.
