Someone should tell the Teams about AirBnB, I'm sure the locals will be thrilled to host some of the players and coaches.

Re Flights, maybe some of the juniors can replace the Stewardesses on the flight?

There's plenty of room to cut costs, the ARU/Clubs need to get creative!

There seems to be an expectation that the WF should cover all costs and be cost neutral, what about Argentina and Japan, can we see the evidence of their covering of costs. And if it is ok for them why can't TF do it for the WF.

Relocating and recontracting players.

Laying off or relocating WF staff currently on the ARU payroll.

I think the WF still need to try and get any legal action moving as soon as possible. The longer it takes the less of a club they will have to save.

The players will clearly be devastated but I don't think they will put their lives on hold hoping for a miracle.

Maybe those that sign new contracts will have a get out clause should the Force remain in the comp?

Just catching up BH, and this question might have been addressed in later posts, but if the WF are all ARU employees, what's to stop the ARU terminating those contracts immediately and then there'd be no organisation out West to take the matter to court?

In terms of the players, they said they would honour the contracts and also, they would need to pay them out if they cancelled the contracts.

In terms of staff, it has been Rugby WA battling the ARU, not the Force (now ARU) employees.

It is an obvious factor in the decision, if you are bleeding money and need to cut costs; spending as little as possible to do that cut makes business sense. Especially if the other option is paying/buying out someone

That option is only available should that party want to sell it to you.

It's really why the Force were the "easiest" option. Although to be fair, if we are talking about licences held by the ARU that could have been "discontinued", the Reds, Tahs and Brumbies were also the "easiest" option.

And of course that was never going to happen. Just pointing it out. ;)

In at least the case of the Reds and Tahs (not sure about the Brumbies), the original agreements in place gave them a permanent right to a Super Rugby licence.

The licences granted to the Rebels and Force weren't nearly as permanent.

I did enjoy Bret Harris sub-heading in the Guardian today.

The actual article itself isn't much though....

The thing is, and everyone is choosing to ignore it, the ARU couldn't get rid of the Rebels. They have no control over the license. You can't get rid of what you don't own.

One situation is like owning an apartment and arguing the terms of the rental agreement with your tenant and how quickly they have to move out of the home and the other is like trying to tell the guy in the same apartment building he has to sell his house. He might be a shitty neighbor but you can't get him to sell unless he wants to

Well, obviously reasonably permanent. We are still here.

Professional Rugby in Oz is at a point of collapse. Maybe not immediately from a financial POV (but that may come soon enough), but from a level of trust the backlash from fans next year I think will be tremendous. Crowds will be <5000.

On the field we can't compete with other nations in Super Rugby. And I suspect we'll be getting a touch up this weekend and through all TRC.

If ever we need new blood and a fresh approach at the top, well, it's now if not 15 years ago.

It’s a tragic farce being played out by the ARU.

How they can keep a straight face in media briefings is beyond me.

The damage to brand RUGBY is unmeasurable.

I think the ARU have lost the room and have next to no support from the broader rugby community.

This will end badly for the ARU, and will hurt rugby in the process.

Well, they didn't. Clyne had a snarky grin on his mug the entirety of talking about cutting the Force. Like a proper psychopath grin.

I think its a little bit rich for Cheika to be crying about losing the Force . Not once in the lead up did we hear a word from him and now he wants to align himself with the hard done bys and distance himself from the ARU incompetents. We were told last week that all of the head coaches had been consulted and agreed that one team should be cut so that Australian Rugby could survive. Sorry Michael, if you didn't back them then, you shouldn't cry about it now.

He's an ARU employee. You have to accept that he had to show a reasonable amount of constraint commenting on the issue as did every ARU employee.

One newspaper says there's an injunction, on paper says there's not. Who to believe..

I'm no expert but I assume there is an injunction in place until it is decided if the appeal will be heard. That seems to follow natural justice though nothing else does!

Cox could have sold the license to me and i would have paid $100 instead he just got $1......

The Australian Rugby Union's Super Rugby nightmare will continue after RugbyWA have gained an injunction order against the body's decision to axe the Western Force from the Super Rugby competition.

So what's the gameplan here? RWA/WF get an injunction about the ARU's decision being incorrect. In the mean time, SANZAAR proceed with drafting a schedule for next season without the Western Force who I can't imagine care what an Australian court has to say?
