By my logic if all the provinces have been able to play attacking, passing rugby recently, then so can the national team. Teams like Canada and Japan have had some of the best attacking rugby this world cup and have turned many top tier defence inside out.
I don't believe the Ireland team...
Surprised Fitz isn't being mentioned here. Without him we would be been stuck on 3 pointers.
Only just getting over this. I wonder what the team will do from here. On reflection the northern hemisphere isn't in such a disarray ad first looked. Scotland shouldve beaten the RC winners, a team...
Interesting mxyz, I thought that as well.
Then I thought what if the reason is it's hard to replicate that at international level and Ireland don't have the players. But, Scotland, Japan, Tonga etc can do it and rip defences apart. I think the major fact is at Leinster they played so many games...
Either way Sexton will struggle to make the next world cup. He would be 35 and is one of the most injury prone players around.
Irish rugby isn't in a bad place but Jackson needs more game time now, he could be a great player if invested in.
He has excellent passing. It's just the last season the game plan internationally hasn't focused on running rugby. His long range passing, pop passing and importantly passing to the right channel at the right time are unrivaled in the team and Europe, I'd only place Carter ahead of him in that...
Half backs are the on field generals, if they willingly ignore the coaches tactics they shouldn't be selected. Besides Irelands game plans have worked in the past with back to back 6N's and a four on the trot win streak over the SH teams before this. Ironically it was today when the 10 didn't...
In NZ and SA rugby is life and kids have rugby balls in their hands at a young age. But they do in Wales too. In Aus and Argentina rugby union is by far the second fiddle to other sports. So based on that it's hard to believe their grass roots structures and giving them better skill sets from...
Subjective, Madigan missed a simple touch finder kicking it out on the full. Argentina get a scrum, and a try resulted. Instead of a territorial gain of 20+ metres Ireland is now down by 13. Missing the star fly half was crucial.
That's not to detract from Argentina. They looked outstanding...
Irelands game plan relies on Sexton. He is the best tactical kicker the squad has but also the best passer, without him the whole team stops clicking.
It's odd seeing the 6N back to back champions get beaten so convincingly. It makes the 6N seem so redundant when it leads to this on the grand...
France completely took it out of this Ireland team, a 7 day turn around after that battering was probably too much. Argentina look fantastic, an amazing scrum but **** those backs are something else.
What happens to Euro rugby now? All teams, with Scotland inevitably next, dumped out with no...
Heartbreaking. If we had our pack leaders and Sexton we couldve closed this game out. What could've been.
Aus should beat Argentina next week. Just don't let Kepu drift out wide they're fantastic ball in hand.
