    Sydney Subbies 2015

Different game obviously but 0/35's and 0/45's soccer is huge in terms of numbers (and the majority of weekend emergency room visits)

    Sydney Subbies 2015

Yeah it is a tricky one, the club with in the club can be bad but also can draw players in as you say/ It has happened to a club I was involved in many years ago and generally it was ok, the difference maybe was that these guys would play the odd game in higher grades to help out as long as it...

    Sydney Subbies 2015

I think that is the beauty of Subbies rugby is that that it can cater for most types of commitment/ability levels. The issue is reconciling between the larger clubs which have 5-6 teams(and can accommodate the different player needs) versus the smaller clubs with 3 teams which possibly struggle...

    Sydney Subbies 2015

When you are not winning games, the numbers drop off. Add that to the inevitable injury toll, it gets tough as the year rolls on. Whether the season is 15 rounds or 18 rounds, those teams at the bottom will face the same issues. The solution is easy (yeah right), win games, be near the top and...

    Sydney Subbies 2015

I guess where I was coming from was that Iggies have been a powerhouse in div 1 over the last 20 years and now ........

    ISA Rugby 2015

Pius picked up the 2nds (vs SS 4th), also the 16A and I think the 14A as well.

    Sydney Subbies 2015

It looks like Iggies are imploding in Div 1: 1st grade 8-78 vs St Pats (7th vs 9th on the ladder) 2nds 0-109 3rds 0-28 4ths 0-28 - assume they were both forfeits,at least their colts won. Any word on the street, what is happening?

It was a Kinross call, they had concerns about travelling. I believe there is more snow forecast for tonight/tomorrow

    ISA Rugby 2015

I understand Pius and Kinross called off

    Shute Shield 2015

If any body proposes a comp with just colts and 1st and 2 nd grade, clearly they don't understand the concept of playing for a club. How many guys run around each week in 3rd or 4ths who just like playing with their mates at x or y club. Get rid of 3rd or 4th grade and I estimate at 50% of those...

    ISA Rugby 2015

What a stop start season it has been. It is time for ISA Rugby to follow ISA soccer and go to a proper home and away season with semis and finals. Drop the meaningless "trial" games and if it means Pius dropping to 2nd Div, so be it. I know the school won't like it but many of the parents are...

    Sydney U/18 Colts

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Absolutely agree that the U/18's should be maintained and developed, hey even a simple thing like putting the scores in the paper would be a welcome innovation. Any club not embracing the 18's is crazy, what a great way to develop a recruitment stream for the higher age colts.

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Penrith (aka Nepean) were long time participants in what was the old 2nd division before it was absorbed into Subbies around 1993. I think it was at this time that Penrith went up to Shute Shield. Will look up some old programs to confirm
  15. Whale berry

    Shute Shield 2015

You are right there will be some players who leave, Penrith are telling us they have lost 43 players already, so not much will change. There will a core group who prefer to play for Penrith, what this proposal will do will stop them getting beating by 100 points most weeks while giving them time...

    Shute Shield 2015

Dropping Penrith back to Subbies will only reduce the growth of the game in the west. Maybe give Penrith some breathing space by letting them play 2 to 3 years without a team in the Shute shield. Their 1sts play in the 2 nd grade comp etc, same as what is currently in place with the colts

    ISA Rugby 2015

Agree with the surprise at more Oakhill boys not begin in the firsts. Fraser Toohey has a strained hamstring, although thought he would be ok in a couple of weeks.

    Shute Shield 2015

Dennis Handlin is a bit of a rugby tragic, I think hie son plays for Gordon

    ISA Rugby 2015

Apparently Pius were up 8-0 after about 10 mins, so Gregs did start a little slow. Whether Pius thought it would be easy and took the foot off the gas or Gregs woke up, I don't know. Also the Pius 16A team (tipped by some to be favourites for the title), lost for the first time to Gregs.
  20. Whale berry

    Shute Shield 2015

Things are grim for Penrith, when Gordon can put on 289 - 7 across 4 grades.
