Have tried looking at both SJRU and NSWJRU for results and info but cant find anything. NSWRU doesn't publish the U/18 results in the media or their web site. Can some one post some info. The U/18's is a great initiative and should be supported.

Also heard Mosman's Halligan cup team will be playing as Canterburys 3rd grade

Some gossip from various bars re Div 1. Balmain, Pats and Drummoyne struggling for numbers with the departure of the paid players. Colleagues and Mosman only two clubs who have confirmed 5th grades.

One of the issues with the U/18's being administered by SJRU, no results published in the Sunday papers. How hard could it be?

The div 1 outcome will be determined by the salary cap, i.e. who adheres to it, who doesn't and who gets busted.

Although we are yet to see the teams on the park, if the posts about most clubs having an U/18 side as well 3 colts grades are correct, it is a bit of poke in the face of all those nay sayers who said it would never work. Lets hope it all hangs together during the year.

Fair call, I applaud the initiative and kudos for NSWRU for getting it up. I guess if I was running a senior club and had a team playing under my name and my colours I would prefer to have some control over it. Not sure about being U18's means they have to play under SJRU, plenty of U18's are...

Seems a typical half arsed nswru way of managing things, either they are part of the shute shield clubs or they are not.

Probably a few decent size egos involved, why else would you do it.

Brisbane Purple U15 defeated Sunshine Coast 26-0

Pius have trials against Cranbrook, Aloysius, Pats and Sydney Boys. Core group have been training in the gym to build up strength to counter the lack of size. Depth could be a problem though.

It is also a World Cup year and you can bet that the IRB refs boss has said only northern hemisphere style refs ( whistle blowing all game ) will get a gig in the RWC

Maybe there lies the problem!

Any idea what sort of sanctions are being mooted?

Being successful in Div 1 long term does not necessarily involve paying players. It definitely means you have to have a strong stable administration as a starting point.

Drummoyne do have a lot of cash, as I understand they sold their club, invested the money and live off the interest. As shown by the GF fine, a monetary penalty doesn't appear to have any impact.

My mistake I assumed that Brothers wouldn't be coming up. I didn't realise the depth of the poo that Drummoyne are in. Is it related the red cards only or are there "other" issues?

Any word on the Div 1 comp structure, the latest I have heard is that it will be 8 teams only. This is of course would mean Brothers stay in Div 2

Glad common sense has prevailed and the U/18's is added to the "colts" roster. If not all clubs can field a team in day 1, no big deal, work towards it.

So no demotion for Drummoyne then??
