As you say that number of red cards is disgraceful but i don't know what will be achieved by sending them to Div 2. That kind of behaviour is either cultural or procedural. Meaning the D'moyne board/management tolerates and/or encourages activities that lets this happen. It could player...

    Shute Shield 2015

I am not advocating change, just pointing out the consequences of such a change. Some posters are saying there are heaps of U/18 players available and others are saying there aren't enough players to fill 3 grades, so who knows

    Shute Shield 2015

Fair call on the existing juniors filling the void but my other points are valid: x number of fringe (over 18 colts) get moved on in year 2 when the private school boys hit the scene, potentially another batch of players are squeezed out. I agree with Hugh, the U18 should be in addition to...

    Shute Shield 2015

It is true that some clubs struggle with fielding 3 teams but IMO making 3rd colts U/18 will only make that harder. Outside of the usual top clubs, 3rd colts is made up of guys who have left school looking for a run with their mates, late developers etc etc. Make those guys inelligible they will...

Maybe it was a more a case of those boys playing up in the opens early in the year rather than playing league.

I based my comment on the two games vs Pius. The trial early in the year was a reasonable contest but the last game of the year was a whitewash. Superficially it seemed the difference between the two games was the no 10, no 15 and Hopate at 12. none of whom played early in the year. Hence the...

I don't doubt the enthusiasm of the Pius opens squad but unfortunately I cant see many 1st XV players coming out of this years 16's so I am not sure how they are going to significantly improve.

The impression I got in watching the Auggies 16A early in the year vs late in the year was that later in the year they had all the League rep players playing and that made a big difference? Fair comment??

Yep the team sheets list him as Nick Riley, the 7's background explains the speed.

The Pats no 15 is quick, what is his back ground?

On a different note, Brothers are saying they are going to Div 1 next year. I think they will struggle, particularly in the lower grades. They have reengaged with the school, SPX and the colts program is looking good, but maybe a season too early to go up.

I have just seen some images of the div 1 finals at Uni NSW from the weekend. The early games were played in torrential rain and the ground was literally underwater. Looked like some of the worst conditions played in.

I agree, I cant see either club going to Div1 , doesn't work for the clubs (Brothers and Newport) at this point in time and won't work over the course of the year for the Division. Looks like Divisions of 8 all round. It will certainly put the acid on the remaining clubs in Div1, effectively no...

I must admit I had a chuckle when I read one of the earlier posts that claimed "Pats has an excellent reputation for sportsmanship"

Pius 16A beat Stannies 13-7. I didn't see the game and I am reporting what I was told. Apparently lots of niggle and the ref called off the game early after a Pius boy was dropped by a head but.

Stannies 32 - Pius 10 Pius led 10-8 running with the wind in the first half. Stannies used the wind better and kept Pius pinned in their own quarter for most of the second half. Whenever Pius had possession they were under pressure and were unable to maintain any rythem. 18-10 with about 7 mins...

I think you are being generous with you forecast of the 16A's score. KWS had a close result against Oakhill last week. Oakhill gave the Pius 16A's a rugby lesson just before the holidays.

I agree lets move on. I would like to post the report from one of the coaches which I think is balanced and a good summary (from a Pius perspective of course): "Our opens 2nds produced a fine performance to record a “spirited” win. They played with great desire, determination and enthusiasm. Our...

I have not witnessed a first XV match at Breen but I would imagine the school not tolerating that behaviour, however my comment was based on witnessing this behaviour at Hudson. That has been my only point of reference. Maybe away from the school eyes behaviour changes. I certainly did not mean...

Does anyone have any form guide on the Kinross 16A's. Tried the ISA website but it hasn't been updated since round 2.
