16A Oakhill 35 Pius 10 28-5 at half time, Oakies came out firing with a big pack and it was 28-0 before you could blink. After Pius woke up the game settled down to be a bit more even, as you can see from the score. Game finished 5 mins earlier than scheduled with a neck injury to a Pius boy...

    Sydney Subbies 2014

I noticed in the results that the 3rd grade and 4 the grade results Beecroft vs Pats were both 0-28 to Pats. Did they both happen to be four try defeats or did Beecroft forfeit both?

They must be something in the water up Newcastle/Hunter way, a big chunk of the CHS 1 and 2 teams hail from up there.

Thanks for the rule info Hugh

    Sydney Subbies 2014

Don't quite understand why subbies is U/21 and grade is U/20. Didn't have a problem with I think a couple of years ago, 3rd grade colts in grade was U/19. Thinking of my skinny 18yo son coming out of school and going into colts against hardened 20/21 year olds

    Sydney Subbies 2014

ditto on this one. Also as most people would know Div 1 and Div 2 colts are played in between 2nd and 3rd grade. On one hand it is a pain as it pushes 5th grade back to the breakfast timeslot and makes it hard for the guys from threes standing by for twos. However as way of including colts as...

    Where Are They Now

I will get around to posting the Lower divs from 1982, there were certainly a lot of unusual clubs around. Just about every bank (including the Reserve Bank) had a team as well there were a lot more single team old boy clubs.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Is there a "mercy"rule in Junior Rugby? Junior AFL is 90 point margin (at a break) for "A"level teams and 60 point margin at other levels. At the break when mercy is called the two teams are mandated to be evened up. In Junior RL they simply stop playing when the margin hits 60. Junior RU ???

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

I didn't say they were "friendly", reality is they are part of package for TV rights which dictate "X" amount of tests are played. The real stuff starts with Bledisloe.

    Sydney Subbies 2014

Interesting comment, if they stay in subbies you would have to think they will drop down a few Divisions though. As was posted previously they are in a terrible spot, geography wise.

Maybe the wheel turns the full circle and NSWRU reintroduces 2nd Div kicks the semi pro clubs up from subbies and drop down the strugglers in Shute Shield, have promotion/relegation so there is a pathway (hate that word) up or down.

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

People are waking up that the June tests are little more than trial games against 2nd string teams. They have no meaning, when was the last time a June test was a great game of rugby.

    Where Are They Now

With the discussion on the main subbies thread discussing comp structure I thought this might be appropriate. I found an old program (1982) that has the subbies tables of the day listed. Interesting to see who is still around and who is not. I will start with the old 2nd and 3rd Divisions as...

    Sydney Subbies 2014

I think everyone agrees there should be more regionalisation, the main areas of debate is where you draw the line vs playing on merit regardless of location. Div5, Div4, Div3, Div 2 or Div1. The second area of discussion is how many grades each club/div should/could have. I still think subbies...

    Sydney Subbies 2014

You are right about the travel in the Illawarra comp, Nowra and Kiama are still a bit of a journey from C'Town C'towns issue is they appear not to have managed the player cycle well, it has happened before. They go back to Illawarra regroup and come back again. 5 grades in Div1 has worked for...

    Sydney Subbies 2014

Spot on, but they (C'town committee) have been talking about it since last year. Given Illawarra only have 2 grades and colts it could be a better fit for them. BUT it would leave a hole in div1/div2. I think looking at the lack of numbers together with the poor results across all grades you...

    Sydney Subbies 2014

I havnt heard the C'Town rumour but given their lack of numbers this year I wouldn't be surprised. They have been in and out of the Illawarra comp for years. I think they first came into the old 2nd Division in about 77/78 stayed for a couple of years then went back to Illawarra, then came back...

Pius 16A 22 - Gregs 16A 14. (5-7 to Gregs yet half time) 12-14 to Gregs with about 10 mins to go, Pius finished stronger with a penalty and well worked converted try to Matt Kennedy from a back line move.
