ISA appear to have improved their result reporting with a new web interface, see the link http://www.isa.nsw.edu.au/winter-sports/rugby/

It looks like there are still only 5 teams participating. I hope the powers to be persist with this comp because it has to be a great recruitment tool to Colts. If I was a Colts administrator I would be shaking every tree /i could find to get a team together.

St Pius vs St Pats - Oxford Falls 16A Led by a strong front row the Pius forwards dominated the scrums and gave the backs good ball on the front foot. They spread the ball wide kicked through and chased in numbers putting the Pats defenders under pressure. H/T 24-0 to Pius More of the same in...

    Shute Shield 2015

You are quite right, if Penrith were in Subbies, players with higher ambitions would probably leave, those who like playing local or with their mates would stay. I not criticising the Penrith crew who no doubt are working their buts off. The point I am making is that the status quo is...

    Shute Shield 2015

The only way out of this quagmire is for one/all of RU's to contribute $300k a year for 6-8 years to fund a Gen Manager and 2 Development Officers ( who play 1st grade) to rebuild the juniors and continue the rebuild of their colts. The rest of us then need the patience to wait for the results...

Was it abandoned because of the weather?

    Shute Shield 2015

Regrettably, we don't have the money. i think Penrith were successful when NSWRU had a dozen or so development officers running around and part of the deal was to play for certain clubs. That helped until the money ran out. I agree that you can't buy the community but you have to provide "it"...

    Shute Shield 2015

There is no quick fix for the Penrith (read west of Parramatta) problem. A strategy that targets schools to set up/grow/develop juniors (starting with the young ones U/6 - U/9) and build up age groups as they grow older. This grows into colts and then into senior players, it takes cash and...

    Sydney Subbies 2015

"Not good the result for Petersham in colts. Getting over 100 points wracked up against them!" I watched the Petersham Colts game and they weren't as bad as the score could indicate. They look like a young side with not a lot of rugby skills. Despite that they keep trying and didn't give up.

That is a lot of big calls after only 1 round, good luck to you!

"his is probably a good reason why Colleagues are strong throughout the grades as the lower grades are generally better players who dont have another Div 1 Club to go & play at to make a higher grade." Colleagues being literally next door to Easts, have a different situation. Not sure if they...

I agree with pfitzy, having islanders involved with your club imposes a whole different mindset when it comes to club administration. There are also cultural differences that we can never begin to understand

    Sydney Subbies 2015

I wouldn't say Pats is in the same area as Balmain and Drummoyne (no argument with those two). Interesting question do players play for a club based on geography, mates or close to work. Or as "sack robbie" mentioned looking to play for a better club.

The number of Halligan cup teams always floats, you typically get 4 or 5 clubs have teams all year then there can be up 20 or more other teams that float in and out as there numbers allow. It is organised much like English Rugby used to be where the team official organises a game for the next...

So it would appear that there are 7 teams in the comp, not bad for the first year.
