Aussie super 14 team of the week Round 2 2009

Mumm would have to be the most quoted player so far this year. The Tahs are obviously using him as their go to man for post training interviews. Personally I agree about Caldwell though. Think he is extremely valuable to the Tahs and some of his defensive work on Friday was excellent.

    Subbies Rumblings

Did the Sydney Grade Comp get cut down to the 3 or 4 grades and 2 colts teams as proposed? If so that should see a fair few more players seep into the subbies ranks. We have only had a couple of sessions but numbers seem up on last year from all reports.

    Springboks V Aussie A?

Make the players pay for it themselves. They like us would give alot of money to play for the Wallabies and if this helps their chances then why not?

    Tahs Vs Chiefs

The kicking of the ball out of a halfbacks hands is something I have been getting frustrated by. I just think teams are getting too excited by backrow moves. First phase ball can be a great attacking opportunity yet noone seems willing to chance their arm.

    Super 14 Tipping Competition

Cant work out if I made up ground or lost it. Just waiting for a big finish.

    Waratahs v Crusaders

Im hoping to get to most of the SFS games and also the Brumbies game but dont think I will be heading to Homebush. Partly principal and partly not paying for tickets.... geez im starting to sound like NTA

    Tahs Vs Chiefs

Any decent halfback should be able to jump on a number 8 as soon as he has his hands on the ball. Whether he is strong enough to fully stop the number 8 may be a different story but he should be able to at least slow him down. Thus I would look at having one of your bigger quicker backs, in...

    Phil Waugh is finished

Why do you think Waugh is struggling in matches. All of that jumping out of hovercrafts and choppers cant be the ultimate pre game warm up.

    Phil Waugh is finished

I went to the pub instead of watching the warm up game but i heard the third stringers beat the schoolboys in a pretty heated match. Did anyone see the game?

    Stormers v Reds

I admit to being slightly intoxicated but gee that was a fun match to watch. Complete opposite of tahs game.

    Tahs Vs Chiefs

I saw Croftie playing in the Bondi Tens last weekend. While it was a pretty social day he managed to pull off some pretty impressive hits. actually I think my Saturday last week warrants mention. I started by getting home at 3.30am and watching the Lions Cheetahs game although dont remember...

    Super 14 Tipping Competition

PB - We are just trying to keep things interesting for a bit. No fun in leading from the front the whole way. Your Stormers boys cost me the perfect round in my other leagues so not happy at all. Also still smarting that they didnt crack the top four at the end of last season after putting a...

    Force v Cheetahs

Ive only just signed up for the tipping comp so giving everyone a head start. I'll be going with the Force in this one. Cheetahs loosies are obviously their strength with Juan being the best blindside in the world in my opinion. However Pocock and Brown arent too bad and the Force tight 5...

    Boer battles !

I too am picking the stormers in a slight upset. Home crowd should be a big bonus and there is something about the Stormers backs that I really like. I think Grant is a very capable S14 player and am not sure Pienaar Steyn is a great combo for a tough local derby match. The rest of the rugby...

Oz Tight 5 (and a few backrowers) stats

If BIG AL BAXTER is 190cm then I am 195cm... and last I checked I was only just over 190. He must have had the long studs and been standing on a brick or two. As you say, take all measurements with a grain of salt.

TYS Oz Player of the Year: Wales

I actually thought Cross had a good game, especially compared to his effort against the poms. 3. Burgess - At times a little ragged but was also instrumental in anything good we did in attack and his defence was supurb. 2. Sharpe (I still cant believe I would ever give him points but he really...
