Chiefs v Reds, Rd 11, Sat May 6th, 5;35pm AEST

It's called channel surfing. Should've known better..

Chiefs v Reds, Rd 11, Sat May 6th, 5;35pm AEST

It's utter rubbish like that which is spoiling the game. Yellow card - pffft. Just turned off. Time to watch another another code.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The laws haven't changed a great deal but the interpretations have. Endless penalties and cards for "dangerous play" that would not have rated a mention in past eras. I'm all for safety but some of the calls this year have been just plain ridiculous. Changing the interpretations around the maul...

Reds vs Waratahs - 29th April RD 10

Harsh call. Do you know him personally? A number of people I know and have infinite respect for have done a line or two in their time. Most no longer do. Move on, nothing to see here.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The other issue is the appeal of going to the stadium. Soccer and AFL are better games live - there is a whole facet of the game which involves off the ball positioning that is hard to capture on tv. League is not much different either way. Rugby is better on TV. It's hard to decipher at the...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I'm used to losing. It comes with the territory :) It's not time in play. A longer game with the same number of penalties and stoppages would not solve the issue in my eyes. It's actually the lack of interest created the scenarios exactly like strewthcobber summarised. And the subsequent lottery...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

You're right Dan, I do have kids playing junior rugby and know a lot of the others on the field. But it's more than just that - we do often hang around and watch some of the other games as well. There's less penalties (mainly due to leniency), the kids can't kick as far (so they have less impact...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I think it's a combination of boredom and frustration chibimatty I do find the game more boring to watch - there is so much less space and the defence is so much more organised. A combination of superior athletes in the professional era and the modern trend of not committing more than one or two...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I played rugby for 20 yrs, have had a reds membership for 10 years, and have coached junior rugby for 5 years. This year I've been to less than half the home games despite my membership. This is my first post for the year. You know your game has a problem when you get infinitely more enjoyment...

    Yellow Cards and Gold Jerseys

I think his behaviour has a major effect on the team - mainly the niggly shit that's creeping into their game. Just not the yellow cards. I don't think there's been one for grub acts or thuggery. It's all been technique, borderline calls, or repeat infringements in the red zone. I'm not a big...

    Yellow Cards and Gold Jerseys

Still not convinced. Phipps was just being a twat. Hooper didn't throw sand - alternate camera angles proved it. The "shoulder charges" were all marginal and from players like Izzy and DHP who are not dirty players - the timing was slightly off and the use of arms borderline but that is all...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

I think all three need a change. And I have a horrible feeling we haven't seen the end of dual opensides. Cheika had 3 last night ffs. He's a stubborn bastard and will need to get towelled a few more times before that experiments over. Reckon we'll see McMahon and Hooper being everywhere but...

I was convinced against Wales. The others - not so much....

    Yellow Cards and Gold Jerseys

Not sure I agree with that Lee. Most of the yellow cards (bar skeletons brain snap) have actually come from poor technique, or repeated infringements. I can't think of many that were due to deliberately grubby play.

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Yeah Ive been thinking that as well but thought better of posting it due to my provincial alliance. It would just encourage the usual retorts from the usual sources. But as much as I rate LFG I still wouldn't have x3 7's in the one side, or x2 in the starting lineup. Not against Eng or NZ...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

I agree it's a stronger starting lineup than the one against Ireland. But I would prefer pocock and hooper to be injury cover for each other and have fardy on the bench. I just don't get the 3 opensides in one lineup. Maybe against a side that is vulnerable to a mobile pack but not against one...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Fair enough. But a number of us did make the call before the game so it's not just with the benefit of hindsight. And the Irish lineout was weakened by injury. I think the English one this weekend is stronger and will give us more trouble. Particularly with 3 no 7s in the lineup (which I think...

And now Timani is starting against a stronger lineout. So is that an admission by Cheika he f@#ked up the team selection against Ireland..

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

The internet is a strange place. When Teflon Hooper plays loose and wide with little impact he is playing to the coaches plan and when higgers does the same (except with more impact and tries) he gets shitcanned for being a seagull
