QLD Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

    1. TBA 2. Alex Mafi NC- Best U16 schoolboy at the tournament in 2012. Nudgee's best forward in 2012. Terrifies the opposition. Can't be missed and is probably first selected. 3. TBA 4. TBA 5. Dalton Cox BGS- Underrated lynch pin of the BGS foward pack. Plenty of height, strength and fitness...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2013

If so I'm guessing this meant the debut of Junior Fakaosilea for Pats? If Jeremy Skelton and Bentley Brown played alongside him in the backrow it would've been quite the spectacle. Any reports? And I know this is a GPS QLD thread, but it still involves an ex-BBC boy playing against a GPS school.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2013

I can't confirm yet, but rumours have emerged of a calamitous beginning to 2013 for BGS with a few prominent players ruled out for months already. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that Forsyth is a part of the injury toll, but it'd be a very unlucky turn of events for Grammar with two QLD U16...

Was there any serious ligament damage? Without somebody to match-up to Tyrone Hussey, it looks like it easily could prove the decisive factor. Maybe Forsyth could slot in, but I thought he might have been looking to move into the #9 jersey with incumbent Sam Burke having graduated last year.

Rumours are circulating that Grammar's Matt Marsden has sustained an injury to his ankle, the extent of the damage won't be confirmed until Tuesday but worrying times ahead for the Light Dark Blue if the discovery of 2011 is ruled out for any substantial period of time.

New Toowoomba coach, different set up. Churchie have definitely started. And are you sure BGS start then?

Too early to be making predictions like this. That being said, I'd have thought Jake Lyon and Evander Guttenbiel (TSS hooker and lock/eight respectively) would have been in contention. Obviously Mafi has to start but Lyon's form was impressive last year. MacLean Jones is highly unlikely to...

Jonah Placid is back this year, that's been confirmed since 2012. And he's enough to push any team up a few spots- he was judged the best Aus Schools player last year for a reason. If it wasn't for Sam Greene's interference Placid would've won Toowoomba the game against BGS at Northgate and...

If you're talking about the coach I think you are, then I've heard the same story. Word is this particular coach made a call to a powerful ARU executive in a desperate bid to move into the professional coaching circuit. Good luck, he'll need it.

Haven't heard anything of Lakehm repeating from the BGS crowd, this is probably just extended bitterness over the overhyped Sam Greene factor of 2012 (Which, DarkShark, is nothing compared to the disgusting importing antics of schools like NC and TSS). Back to Lakehm, he was progressing well...

Jason Gilmore is definitely coming to Churchie. A new Churchie recruit was told as early as June that there'd be a new head coach for 2013. This stinks of corruption in the land of the Viking. Although it's hardly surprising after their completely botched plan for the 'Centenary Premiership'.

Timani isn't really a noted jumper though, but with his height they should be training him up straight away.

    Lions Tour 2013

I think the biggest issue with our pack is how to achieve a balance of physicality, skill and set-piece strength from 4-8. Obviously Pocock and Hooper are two of the best players in any position in the country, but with the added pressure that could create come line-out time etc., it might not...

    End of Year Tour 2012

Pocock, a "good back-up" at scrumhalf- my head hurts. Now I understand how Phipps has kept his spot. Let's just hope Dingo and Totality Tony remember how an openside-cum-scrumhalf went for the Italians... BBC VIDEO: Bergamasco's nightmare at scrumhalf

2012 Australia vs New Zealand - 20 Oct

You have to remember that we played two more games than South Africa in 2011 because they were knocked out in the quarter final. But even 6 more is a considerable amount.

I heard a trumpet played very briefly by a BGS student, but that wasn't during a Nudgee kick.

You're right Light, I was posting about how good BGS were last year. Last year, Grammar's 1st XV contained Greene, Cornelson, Gilbert, Saunders, Blackhurst, Starr-Thomas, Radford- who all played an essential part of this years premiership team. It would have had this year's centre pairing of...

I'd definitely have #13 Josh Birch in my GPS XV. He made himself ineligible for QLD Schools trials due to his league background, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better outside centre in the competition. He started every game this season- which not many other candidates did- with exceptional...

Too early to call it. Nudgee, TSS, BBC and BGS all have particularly strong age groups.
