    Wallabies world cup squad selection

Completely agree. Digby's been the most consistent Wallaby back this year: tackling in the #10 channel (topped the tackle count once and finished second once), making breaks, support running, scoring tries- he shouldn't be dropped. O'Connor to the bench covering #11/#12/#14/#15.

Giteau must be in Wallabies World Cup squad

Lets say, hypothetically, Genia or Burgess had to be replaced. IMO Giteau is a more preferable candidate than Phipps. He's played #9 for the Wallabies before, he brings 92 tests of experience and can cover #10 and #12 as well. If they couldn't be replaced (they were only out for one week) then...

Wallabies no 7 for the world cup

The #6 usually covers these roles: - To guard the blindside off scrums/rucks - Act as a ball runner off rucks/mauls - Coming behind the backline in attack and providing support to the #10 As well, of course, clearing out and making tackles.

    Well deserved James Horwill.

So long and thanks for all the Gits

Thank you Matt Giteau. Over the past couple of years a lot of people (including myself) have shown resentment towards his performances in the Green and Gold- including some intense slander after some missed goal kicks- but I think everyone will agree that he should be remembered as a stand-out...

Wallabies Number 8 for the RWC

Yep, played #6 in every game he played for the Aus Schoolboys in 2004. http://austschools.rugbynet.com.au/verve/_resources/newslet04.pdf

Tri Nations Game 5 - Springboks vs All Blacks

Does your front-row come under the 'try something' banner? I'm really interested to know how the Springbok's 1-2-3 combination will look during the World Cup. I'd personally go 1. Mtawarira 2. du Plessis 3. du Plessis with Smit and CJ on the bench, but there's a plethora of combinations so you...

    Rocky road ahead for Rocky...........

The way he was effortlessly dismissed by Lawrence worries me. It looked like he wasn't even listening to what he said.

Tri Nations Game 5 - Springboks vs All Blacks

http://www.worldcupweb.com/rugby/news/viewarticle.asp?id=31523 Smit's loss could be a blessing with an opportunity for Bismarck to start, but I think his leadership will be sorely missed. Steyn's injury is less serious from what I've read elsewhere. Aplon or Lambie to #15? Or will PvD continue...

    Rocky road ahead for Rocky...........

Rocky's not putting enough pressure on the refs. Last night he only approached Bryce a few times, and each time it was a soft whining complaint, then he'd march back to the team with a frowny face. Needs to negotiate and stick them to the wood a bit more. Apart from that, played pretty well.

    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

Agreed, but when Barnes is back I think he'll come in. Better tackling success rate, more experienced (especially RWC, stepped in for Larkham with a brilliant debut) and offers a genuine second-receiver option to relieve some of the pressure on Quade.

    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

Stephen Moore having a blinder. Always in support. I swear every time there's an offload/loose ball- in the line-out, backline or ruck- Moore's the one receiving. My pick for Wallabies MOTM.

    The Structure of Australian Rugby

The biggest problem with this type of structure is burnout. I know it may sound a bit pedantic at first, but adolescent boys need as much sleep and rest as they can get. Playing a Rugby match after a 6 1/2 hour school day, not to mention after a full school week, coupled with the hormonal...
