I thought last night's topic was well-balanced and had good scope for a range of different arguments. It would have made for some very interesting debates.
Motion: That, as the Victorian Liberal Party, we would call for a vote of no confidence in Dan Andrews.
Info Slide: Victoria bid to host...
If you have this knowledge then why not release the teams? I think it is slightly implausible that Scots and more importantly Shore who are leading the comp have no one in these rep teams but Newington and Kings do.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the standings. Will be interested to see how younger years went with different types of motions. A prefers motion in years 8 and 9 should get some interesting results. Nice to have some new motions, not the same couple that gets cycled through every five years
The interesting thing about the Grammar/Joeys joint seconds premiership last year is that both teams lost to Shore like Joeys already has. Joeys lost to Shore and Grammar in rounds 1 and 2 while Grammar lost to Shore and High in rounds 3 and 7 with a joint premiership on 5 wins. Also in 2014...
I think some of the people you mentioned for IGSA are no longer debating. Some IGSA schools have two different teams for ISDA and Archdale firsts, usually where the year 12s finish their high school debating careers at the end of ISDA.
I think it is worth noting that the kids who were the best in March may not still be the best kids come June and those kids may not be the best ones come August/September. Some teams dramatically improve and some get worse. It is hard to make state and school selections when skill level changes...
Just like to note that the adjudicator you guys are talking about was actually on the aff on that topic, not on the neg. The uni version was a very good debate, 1N was fantastic.
All of this is very interesting, I think the list of state callbacks is further back in the forum somewhere if you are looking for names. Not sure just a name helps too much though.
That we prefer a world where we subsidise the moving costs for First Nations people to urban areas, instead of investing in infrastructure in First Nations Communities
That we oppose Australian media outlets revealing war crimes committed by members of the Australian Defence Force
That...
Congratulations to Grammar and Aloys on making it that far. Big achievement.
As for the GPS team, I think there is a cap on how many members are allowed from each school so we should see a fairly even split.
:D Thank you!
This makes sense. I think rescheduling is just the orderly thing to do. You don't want to be known as the school that takes advantage of other teams' situations like this. I also think it is just better to go against a team at full strength. It is a much better form of preparation...
