I think that it would be hard to see a CAS team without Chapman playing a part if not captaining it. He has been one of the best onfield captains I have seen. He plays incredibly hard but very fairly, keeping his players under control all the while building up a respectful rapport with the referee, a skill that is critical. Very strong player in defense and doesnt mind to run the ball.

I expect there will be some Waverley and Trinity players in the side, in particular some of the boys who played in the NSW U17s side earlier this year.

Hi Sammy

If your reference was to me I made it clear that the composite side I chose was only from the 3 teams I have seen play. (Knox,Barker and Cranbrook)

I think clarity will come over time when Waverley play Barker and Cranbrook.

From reading other blogs I agree Yoanidis seems like a quality player.

Not a bad team but I feel you have some of the players wrong + it is very early days in round 2. Still plenty of time to show form.

Couldn't agree more with you Tahman. NSW U/16 player + CAS 16's + CAS 2nd XV player from last year. Watched the Knox age group through the years as well as the Barker age group. He has held composure throughout and is a great leader. Spot on Tahman. Great Knowledge. Fantastic write up of the game as well from Saturday.

OK, so this week.

Despite Trinity's improvement on Saturday, I can only see a heavy defeat in store for them at Knox. Likewise, I give Cranbrook little hope against Waverley.

Mind you, Barker and Aloysius should be tight. Aloysius would have expected to win last Saturday, and Barker are improving. Too tight to call - I'd expect a margin of a few points either way.

Brian, I think you greatly underestimate the strength of some players...
Personally my picks would be:

CAS 1ST XV - 2015
15. Narayan (W)/ Mcniven (C)
14. Diamond (A) (assuming form is consistent)
13. Armstrong (K)
12. Williams (K)
11. Yonidias (W) / Stenning (K) (depending on injurys)
10. Sitene (T)/ Thompson (B)
9. Bluett (B) / Hayes (A) / Butler (K) (lots of competition here)

5. Stenmark (C) / Begg (K)
4. Basson (K)
3. Hill (C)
2. Nguyen (T)
1. Wayland (T)

My team (by what I have seen and read on here)
1. Wayland (T)
2. McKenna (W)
3. Hill (C)
4. Margin (K)
5. Swinton (K)
6. Basson (K)
7. Chapman (K) - Captain
8. Cooper (W)
9. Murphy (W)
10. Dainton (A)
11. Stenning (K)
12. Williams (K)
13. Armstrong (K) / Smernotis (W)
14. Yoanidis (W)
15. Bosch (K)

No room for McLennan (T), Cardassilaris (W), Diamond (A) or the whole Knox front row. If Nguyen (T) is fit, he slots in at 2. I haven't seen Barker so it will be great to see them. All reports are that their 7 is very good but obviously struggled against a much bigger Knox pack in Round 1. Knox obviously dominate the team with 8 players.

Who are the coaches of the CAS teams this year? How much say do they get in the selection of teams? This could play a huge part.

Obviously it will be competitive.

Diamond (A) looks like he would be a real handful on the end of a slick and fast backline... he would have to be in contention.

Morris (T) played for NSW under 17s who beat Queensland up at Ballymore (Wayland captained NSW), so he must be a chance if fit.

1. Barakat (C)/ Wayland (T)
That is the same team that I just named. McNiven doesn't play fullback.

The older I get

Any predictions on the U16 CAS team for this year?

Based on form from previous years in this age group, Knox and Waverley have been very dominant, however there have only been two rounds so-far this year. A possibles/ probables CAS 16's team might include the following:

1. Max Cutrone K
2. ??
3. Finn Wright W
4. Nick Frost K
5. Clifton W
6. Coghill B
7. Stenning K
8. Szabo W
9. Bell/ Hansen W/ K
10. Woodcock K
11. Van Woerkom B
12.Hardeker W
13. Howe/ Collins W/ K
14. ??
15. Pavlakis K

Disappointing to see some young Waverley boys in here ruining an otherwise mature and sophisticated conversation on schoolboy rugby. Based purely on the fact that all players bench 80kg, we can safely say, Waverley will have a flawless and successful season from now on.

What about Cornish(W)? Stead (T)? Tejek (B) apparantly has had 1sts time although year 9?? Is he eligible? Townsend (W) plays hooker and plays hard?Rahme (A) is in the same boat at hooker. Donaldson (W)?? Cranbrook centre plays well aswell don't know his name though. Buffa (B) also plays front row for 1's at Barker so if one of the three props can throw it could be an all 1st XV front row. Lloyd (B) could be there too, has got gas and can play.
