COVID-19 Stuff Here

If a tripple vaxxed nonagenarian catches covid from triple vaxxed family or staff and survives, then I'd say the pandemic fear mongering is over.
I'd also like my chances if I was a triple vaxxed nonagenarian with a personal wealth of $500 million and an entire state apparatus dedicated to preserving my health and wellbeing!

Iceland will drop all covid restrictions on Friday.

"Widespread societal resistance to COVID-19 is the main route out of the epidemic," the ministry said in a statement, citing infectious disease authorities.

"To achieve this, as many people as possible need to be infected with the virus as the vaccines are not enough, even though they provide good protection against serious illness," it added.(Reuters)

Is there no way out of this insanity?
The FDA is reviewing data to potentially authorize another COVID-19 vaccine booster shot in the near future, the Wall Street Journal reports. (Daily Mail)
That's a 4th shot with "health experts" now discussing annual shots also.

Dispatches from Camp Crazy aka the occupation of NZ's Parliament grounds & surrounds.

A lady has shared how her pet lamb died & its blood turned black after coming into contact with a vaccinated person.

An occupation spokesman posted to social media that, yes, people are getting sick & some of them badly so but it's not Covid nor is it food- or general hygiene-related, it's those EMF generators the cops have brought in (musta borrowed them from your AFP as apparently they were used at the Canberra protests, too).

Edit: occupiers are now literally making tinfoil hats to ward off the EMF:

A group representing some of the occupying groups posted to social media that the Police & others are planting agents provocateur to stir up trouble thereby undermining public support for the occupation and/ or providing the Police with a pretext to invade the camp. Posted a pic of someone wearing one of those BTE hearing aids with the clear tubing going into the ear & claimed it was Police-issue.

Edit: someone presumably opposed to the occupation has fashioned a warning sign. The pixelated word? Five letters, C something nts:

An anonymous cop has shared what the occupation looks & smells like from his POV:

What a mess. Seems like it would be tempting to just leave them to it, let them fizzle out of their own accord. Though I know it's causing a lot of disruption in Wellington. It might be one of the few benefits of Canberra's sprawling layout - there's nowhere that a protest camp can set up and really disrupt the city.

Those aren't even the best parts. The Camp Freedumb also mandates no drugs, alcohol, or smoking for public health reasons of course. Also dogs are required to be on leashes, and security will also try eject or disbar people who are filming the wrong thing or who they just don't like. That is, when they're not fighting amongst themselves.

EDIT: Also the shameful banning of daylight masturbating was an egregious overreach into civil liberties by Camp gubmint. What the man in the blue tent chooses to do in his own (temporary) castle is obviously his own business that these commies have no right to impeach upon.

EDIT II: Also, also, the self-proclaimed satanic pedophile hunters are all good with genuine GPS ankled convicted pedophiles hanging around with them.

At this point that seems to be the strategy although attempts are being made to reduce the size of the encampment with some success even if only of the two steps forward one back variety. Many of the moderates I cited in my earlier post have clearly realized who they were associating with & have left. It's fair to say that those who remain have either drunk the kool-aid or are the ones making & selling it.

On a serious note, today's official case count was a tick over 12K but many experts believe the true number was more like 20-25K. 237 people will spend tonight in hospital (& five in the morgue) & that's already starting to have a knock- on effect with hospitals cancelling elective surgeries with peak -Omicron still at least two weeks away.

Statistics have been used to justify "health advice" and political decision making during the covid scare.
Now we find that the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has finally admitted that it is hiding data that it has collected about the efficacy of vaccines. (New York Times)
A spokeswoman said that for more than a year the CDC has collected data on hospitalisations for Covid and broken it down by age, race and vaccination status but refused to publish almost all of it.
Why the secrecy? The CDC was ‘reluctant to make those figures public because they might be misinterpreted as the vaccines being ineffective’.

So the vaccine hesitant have good reason to doubt the effectiveness of shot 1, shot 2, and successive boosters.

Unvaccinated NZ Police and Defence Force will not be sacked this week.

A High Court challenge questioning the legality of Covid-19 vaccination mandates for Police and Defence Force employees has been upheld, with the court determining that the government mandate is an unjustified incursion on the Bill of Rights. (NZ Herald)

Good news for the small number who fought against forced vaccinations based on the right to decline a medical procedure and the right to religious freedom.

^ applies to Edit: 164 of the overall police workforce of nearly 15,700 were affected by the mandate after choosing not to be vaccinated. For NZDF, the mandate affected 115 of its 15,500 staff on very narrow grounds to do with the possibility that early in the vaccine development process it may have been tested on cells that may have been from aborted fetuses.

Meanwhile in news that actually matters...

TLDR: from Thursday no self-isolation for vaxxed kiwis returning from Aus & from Friday vaxxed kiwis can return from anywhere else without self-isolating (the first part of which was due to happen from 13 March anyway).
