Ive been watching a lot of old rugby recently on YouTube .. while you might remember those teams fondly, I urge you to do the same . You’ll instantly realise those older sides from 80s/90s are far smaller, slower and less skilful than modern sides .. It just reality, the game has evolved like all sports.
I believe that this statement is one of the most popular myths surrounding sports similar to the statement (Micheal Jordon couldn't have played in today's current era). The size of that team was no short of the current schoolboys teams of today's era, being a good friend of Herbert Worthington he would have weighed around 100-110 kgs at 6ft in year 12.

Tom Furlong, Al Brown and Hugh Graham have been moved up to the threes for Shore this week after putting on a show on the weekend. Hopefully Tom "the bomb" Furlong can prove himself yet again against Joeys the weekend and with another "nuclear missile" of a try. His "explosiveness" around the ruck blows all who watch away and he will certainly will show the coaches what they have missed in the past 6 GPS rounds.

Congrats

If you are going to try and put together a bunch of fake names, at least get the fixtures right. This weekend Joeys play Riverview in 1sts, 2nds AND 3rds. I'm all for a bit of banter but let's try and keep this thread somewhat related to the games this weekend. Also, those three don't even go to Shore. Nice try.

The camera does capture how outclassed the New 2nds were on the day and how they niggled the Joeys players at every point in the game.
While this may be the case, we refrain from making negative comments on the behavior of students. They do not have the ability to defend themselves against allegations made. Please remember they are school kids and not paid professionals.

Hey Tim, I notice that you two have been giving out fake fixtures, I believe you wrote a comment saying a darcy hallam has been moved up to the shore 2s to which I checked and there is no record of him in any opens fixture this season. If your going to muck around mate maybe do it during recess of lunch time.

Quick question to appose! Would 2022 joeys beat 23 kings?! love to hear your thoughts :p
I was going to say the same thing. Joey's 2022 backline is slightly better as having Sharpless, Jorgo, Jorgo, and Leahy. Whereas Kings 2023 has a slightly better forward pack than Joyes 2022. Would be a riveting game to watch.

Have all these teams gone undefeated during the season.

I have been hearing a lot about Tom Furlong, sounds like he is really making a statement and has improved significantly this season. Al "the meerkat" Brown has also grown to 6 foot 8 in the past few years and is also pushing to play opens for the final few games and for next year. Promising future for these guys.

Flat out

I didn't name players and they have the option to not be dirty players at the next game.

That's impressive. You need to tell these things over time.

If I was to guess out of every year in the Australian School Boys, Australian U18s only 5-6 on average will go on to have a professional career in Rugby of more than 3-4 years. They will almost all be thrown a development contract that barely pays for petrol in Super Rugby. This number would have gone up recently with the number of opportunities growing around the world.

I guess I'm advocating for the team of champions over a champion team concept which I don't agree with but if a team of champions clicks they will roll the champion team every day of the week.

The argument about eras is hard because if the sides of the 80s & 90s grew up today with the same methods they could very well dominate. We just don't know. Look up the 1981 Australian School Boys side. I think they'd do just fine. Betty Cuthbert is considered a legend of Track & Field but her PB wouldn't have even made the final at the Tokyo Olympics. Should never take anything away from her.
