More NZ players taking up US gigs:

"New Zealand Rugby have announced today, Black Ferns Sevens players, Stacey Waaka, Manaia Nuku, Tysha Ikenasio and Kelsey Teneti will join All Blacks Sevens players Rhodes Featherston and Kitiona Vai to take part in the Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s)."

You make it sound like NRL is some game that has an lure that means once someone plays it - they can't help themselves but switch. More money is coming into the women's game.

Not really. just reading the writing on the wall that is increasing broadcast rights and rapidly growing CBA’s within NRLW. Money talks.

Failure to commercialise women’s rugby in Oceania means that all Oceania rugby players are a target by NRLW clubs.

Like Dctarget mentioned, BeIN is available to stream independently through various platforms, although it’s another $19.95/months subscription just to watch 7s, although it has Top14 also.

My only concern there would be the calendar.

January is too hot in Sydney. It's cricket season.

Perth gets more hot days than Sydney ...

Interesting story here for Perth (teaser only due to paywall) ...

Love this move.

I understand they sell to governments on multi year deals but the event would be so much better if it moved around Australia annually.

No one. Com Games is dead as a concept. Durban pulled out of the last one remember. Birmingham took it up late in the piece.

Maybe being a UK-er plays its part, but I've found myself unable to get excited about Sevens generally post COVID. The product has begun to feel very... corporate? for lack of a better term, with the push to align with olympic tournament sizing, and the host location shifting over the past 8 seasons or so, particularly the loss of the Vegas Sevens.
