Big game at Bon Andrews oval between Norths and Souths
Both clubs well performed in all grades with Norths 2nd and Souths 3rd on the Colts club Championships.
Norths are the form team in Colts with Randwick and Souths the next best
I think the winners of this years 1st colts will come from these 3 clubs.

It should be a cracking afternoon of rugby in all colts grades between Norths and Souths. Bon Andrews advantage may get Norths home in a very close 1st colts contest. Difficult to see Norths 2nds getting rolled though.
Looking ahead , it appears Norths have the toughest road home of the leading contenders. Manly and Randwick will be difficult but great preparation for the finals.
With a fair degree of guesswork I still have Norths finishing the regular season in 4th place behind Uni, Randwick and Souths in that order.
Any guesses who Norths would like to play in a semi-final?

I wouldn't take Sydney Uni too lightly though!

Over the past 2 seasons the Gordon, Penrith and Parramatta clubs have done a good job of re-invigorating their Colts program and are starting to see the rewards of this commitment. One club has seen early success with recognition of one of their young players by gaining high level representative selection.

The unfortunate side to this is that the smell of fresh talent brings out the vultures who struggle to find and develop their own junior base and already contact has been made by 3 clubs to poach the player away from his home club.

Rugby will not survive if these cannibals are allowed to continue feasting on other clubs hard work at no cost to themselves. I have become aware of officials within the NSW hierarchy who are indirectly suggesting that these kids may not be happy if they aren't beating up on other clubs by 50 points each week and of course they could receive better coaching and playing opportunities at another club if they are to move and play 2nd grade behind last years recruits instead of playing against them.

These people are consciously using their positions to influence talented kids away from their home club they should be ashamed of themselves.

We already have a situation where only 3 clubs are serious contenders to win the Shute Shield. Are we not going to be happy until we have a competition played amongst only 4 clubs. History shows that success has been cyclical over the years with clubs rising and falling but not so out of touch from the leaders as it is today.

The clubs who have developed themselves into little super powers should start looking further than their own self interest and recognise that if they don't stop the predatory behaviour then each season will become even shorter and repetitive having to play the same clubs 3 or 4 times.

The ideology of putting all the talent in one place has been shown to be a spectacular failure with direct evidence in Australia's poor performances at recent age restricted tournaments and inability to defeat NZ in a series for over a decade. Kids who only play 1 or 2 tough games a year since they were 16 are incapable of rising to the challenge when confronted by others who have had to fight for the right to be there.

For the good of the game the administration have to get their snouts out of the trough long enough to see that the pyramid of rugby is upside down and has become so negligent of the talent base that feeds the game that it will soon become insignificant within our sporting land if left to self interested jackals.

Excellent point. The future of Oz rugby revolves around this situation. Resolve it and we will continue to be in the top of world rugby. Ignore it, and........

What a great article in today's tele by RIchard HInds.
"While the NRL, AFL and FFA - worked hard at the grass roots or at least maintain support, rugby sat back in a leather arm chair and smoked a pipe, deluded by the belief it's big end-of-town benefactors and private school constituency guaranteed prosperity.

Clubs apply for finals matches every year. Randwick, Norths, Gordon, Uni, Manly and Easts rarely (if ever) get allocated finals due to the presence of a cricket pitch on the ground and/or the lack of parking. Warringah are hamstrung by the local council who keep ALL the money, Parramatta's ground facilities aren't up to scratch for so many different visiting clubs and Penrith's too far away. That's why Souths, Eastwood and West Harbour end up with most finals matches every year. Rats'd be good for finals if they could ever get the relationship with their council sorted out. It's a great tragedy in Sydney rugby Rat Park is so under-used, solely because of the bloody-minded attitude of Pittwater Council.

Lindommer I believe that relationship was changed this year. The Rats I think pay council $30,000 for the season now to hire and get all the gate receipts and potentially other things like canteen(not sure about these other additional items).

Would have been handsome last weekend for the Rats.

Thanks for that AD, been a while since I went to Rat Park. Remember being surprised when a Rat told me about the council running the gate and the canteen. And then the after match function was in a backroom for which the club had a function licence for a small number of events a year, not a licensed clubhouse. The thing which annoys me about the council's past behaviour is the fact Rat park was built be rugby supporters, John Denoon and others, when Warringah came into the competition all those years ago.

Get some finals there next year.

I believe CHRISTIAN YASSMIN of UNI has been out for 6 weeks not 4. Remarkable effort by the young talent to still be leading the competition in tries. Future superstar

Welcome to Gaggerland @Joe Haden.

The Points summary above was for all games up to round 15.

The NSW Rugby Web site has Christian Yassmin playing in all rounds up to and including round 11. He has therefore missed rounds 12, 13, 14, and 15 (and now Round 16 but the summary has yet to be posted for round 16).

I agree that it is a pretty impressive attacking/finishing performance for this young fellow who has also had the good fortune to be on the end of a fairly impressive and well drilled backline attacking unit.
The Deans of Camperdown must be scratching their heads about the defense though as they have leaked 59 tries (the 6th worst defensive record in Colts 1).
