Can someone who knows someone get the Reds to enquire about Jarrad Butler?

Without wanting to start a 2020 conversation, forward seem pretty safe to me. Money should be thrown at another centre, and/or outside back. What's Hegarty contract situation?

I'm quite happy with how Stewart is going at 15 to lock him in next year. Great defender, good kick, and has pace.

Reckon we could convince the captain of a Top 14 side to come home? Personally think it would be tough.

I reckon he would be open to it. Hes 27 and a Qld boy. Connacht aren't travelling that well.

Stewart isn't going anywhere, and for that matter I hope Hegarty isn't going anywhere either.

Really warming up to his assured play at 10.

Connacht have qualified for the Pro14 finals

Yes, good that they scraped in.

Shame about the Challenge cup.

Although I’m not sure if any of this really has anything to do with him returning to Australia.

Ok, so I guess we still have to rest Samu Kerevi for a match, despite us having the bye this weekend. This is what we have left, so which game does he rest?

Friday 3 May v Sunwolves (Brisbane)
Friday 10 May v Rebels (Melbourne)
Saturday 18 May v Waratahs (Brisbane)
Friday 24 May v Chiefs (Waikato)
Saturday 1 June v Jaguares (Brisbane)
Friday 7 June v Blues (Brisbane)
Saturday 15 June v Brumbies (Canberra)

Apparently Daugunu is back "next month". Do we need to wait for him? Perhaps not.

It's almost got to be the Sunwolves doesn't it? My fear is the impact it could have on the gate - Samu is such a crowd favorite. It's also probably the game we are most likely to win (touch wood)? Or do we hold off for the Jaguares??

If it was the Sunwolves we'd be looking at:

15 Stewart
14 Naivalu
13 CFS
12 Paia'aua
11 Campbell
10 Hegarty
9 McDermott

21 Sorovi
22 Tela / Hardy
23 Toua

Or if Lucas is back from the 20s, he'd just slip straight onto the bench in that 22 jersey probably?

I don't like the approach of resting players for home games. He's had a week off with this bye week, let him play against the Sunwolves and then rest him for either the Rebels or Chiefs game. That mean he has:
Rest
Game
Game
Game
Rest
Game
Game
Game

From a S&C perspective, it's straight out of a periodisation approach which I know Brynley is a fan of and will allow him two separate instances of overloading/recovering.

I'd be targeting the Chiefs game, I wouldn't rest him for that. I can also see the Reds getting up over the Rebels so I'd be hesitant to rest him there. As much as I'd love to see him run amok against the Sunwolves it's tactically probably the best option to rest him for that game.

I would rest him against the chiefs, away from home.

We need to ensure we win against Rebels, Tahs and Brumbies to try to top our conference so we need our best possible team.

If he rests against the Sunwolves then there is a bigger chance of an upset (maybe not an upset the way they are playing).

I think the Chiefs game is one that we probably wont win so we might as well rest him, and any others that need a rest and accept the loss.

Another option is the tell RA where to stick it and just play him every week, if we miss the finals he gets to rest anyway and we are not at the top of the conference so he is likely to get this rest anyway.

Chiefs have been pretty ordinary, I'd certainly be targeting a win over in mooloo country for sure.

More likely it'll be the Sunwolves, though boy they have been extremely unlucky this year, so they are due a result I reckon, a big win @ Lang Park is not inconceivable especially since we've been so hot and cold this season.

Tongan Thorn has requested that he be allowed to play club rugby this weekend

I’d be playing him for the 4 home games, win those 4 and it’s a high possibility you make the finals. So it’s got to be 2 of Rebels, Chiefs and Brumbies. It’d be resting him in the two most likely losses in that list. I don’t think their way to the finals will be as conference champions, so it’d most likely be purely by making up positions 4-8 on the ladder.

Aussie conference still very much up for grabs , only one win separates 1st-4th, every game you win within your own conference almost a two for one deal.

Can't see Kerevi being rested in the intra conference games.

Good to hear TT wanting to keep the momentum going and play some club footy, some players just go better the more game time they get. Look at George Smith, apparently hates preseason so much that he just keeps playing footy, always match fit and ready to go . :)
