ODI World Cup 2019

I don’t think I’d even call NZ a dark horse. They’ve been consistently good for a while now. Bit rich for English supporters to complain about ball tampering now the ECB is raising the seam on the duke for the Ashes.

That's not a bad sledge from those fans. I heard boos when Warner got his fifty and I don't think it will bother him too much. Let the England crowds boo as much as they like. I'll laugh my head off if we play them in the knockout stage and beat them.

Kiwis looked very good in their game. A real dark horse in this tournament for mine.

Sledging, provided it's got some humour to it, is OK but booing, like humourless sledging, is obnoxious IMO.

I wouldn't read too much to NZ beating SL, they're a bit of a rag-tag outfit these days.

Oh for sure it's obnoxious, but we're not going to be able to stop your average Pommie yobbo from doing that, any more than we can stop your bogan dickheads at Bay 13. Just smash them on the park and they'll pipe down, or the Aussies in the crowd will be singing so loudly it won't matter.

On the Kiwis, they'll be a threat for sure. The bowling conditions suit their attack and they have an excellent top order.

^ how is it that in a 10-team comp, which therefore has no byes, one team plays three games in eight days while another has yet to play any? Very strange, that.

EDIT: just to clarify what I mean, Wednesday will be SA's third match but India's first.

Losing games they should win would be my definition. While Faf was at the crease last night they looked like winning. He gets knocked over and they fell in a heap.

Their bowling has been towelled up a bit too, but granted they don't have Steyn at the moment.

Their bowling doesn't seem very suited to limited overs (although they'll probably go ahead and prove me wrong). Rabada is a fantastic test bowler but he really only bowls line and length, which is right in the wheelhouse of modern batsmen, and doesn't seem to have the variations of someone like Bumrah. They're also missing a high-class spinner to tighten up the middle overs.

The spinner is the big one for me. There has never really been much doubt about the quality of the Saffer pace bowling, but I'm not sure Tahir alone is the answer in the spin department.

I haven't been able to watch much yet but listening to the daily "Final Word" podcasts with Geoff Lemon and Andy Collins, and then watching the well compiled ICC 5 min highlight packages (plus other vids) makes me feel I've watched it all. Fantastic coverage.

Must be heart attack material supporting Pakistan. They were hopeless against the Windies but then make a big score against England. Glad to see the Poms get knocked back a peg or two.

Pakistan got flogged in their first match against the Windies in the 92/93 World Cup and then won the tournament. Ominous signs?

BMac's predicted four-chasing-one SF place rapidly becoming a three-horse race, SA are surely only one more loss away from being eliminated.

A bit wobbly at times but NZ home to go 2/2 on the back of another Williamson - Taylor 100+ partnership after Taylor almost running KW out for eight.

How good is Ross Taylor, am glad he's going well as I've always been a massive fan. I thought the way he was treated was appalling but full credit to the bloke he's stuck at it & will go down as an all time NZ great.

NZ smokies, I must admit I am enjoying seeing South Africa getting hammered.

Will be interesting to see how we handle the Windies, they've looked pretty impressive but haven't come up against class bowlers like Cummins yet.

Great bit of rearguard action from Coulter-Nile (a very handy bat, actually) getting us very close to 200, if these guys stick around for a few more overs 250 could be in sight.

Edit: NCN flicks it off his pads for 6 to bring up the 200, shot of the tournament so far.
