Curtain raiser postponed
Tonight’s curtain raiser between the HSBC Waratah A team and Fiji A has been postponed due to the conditions. Members arriving at the game early can head down to the members-only pre-match functions, detailed below.
Alternative arrangements are being made for the game to be played as soon as possible but at this stage, no details have been confirmed.
The Super Rugby round 3 clash against the Rebels will go ahead as scheduled at 7.20pm.

Would hope they make the S15 teams warm up on an outside field/in the sheds to ensure the main ground is in best possible nick in that case.

How is the process flawed?

Plenty of these players that aren't in the Tahs 35 man squad have been training with the Tahs since the start of the pre-season with no remuneration. They are doing it for opportunity etc. Outside of the contracted Waratahs players, they are not just drawing on the best players in the Shute Shield to fill out the numbers.
I would say it's flawed, because the best qualified should be getting this opportunity.
It would be a different matter if the best available knocked back the opportunity, but they didn't.
Picking kids straight out of School is not fair on the kid, and is not fair to the players the kid is leapfrogging.

I doubt they'll cancel it as it's the only game there? It's an issue when there's 2 games back to back

ACT XV rack up 50 over Samoans

The ACT XV have come home with the wind in their sail to knock Samoa A over 58-19 in the opening round of the Pacific Rugby Cup in Wanniassa on Friday.

Packed with 16 contracted University of Canberra Brumbies players, the ACT side laid on nine tries in total, with Robbie Coleman grabbing a double and Jordan Rapana, Etienne Oosthuizen, Scott Sio and Tevita Kuridrani their first in state colours.

The Samoans scored first through their tighthead prop early, but couldn’t keep the momentum flowing long enough to dent the ACT’s prospects. A darting break down the right touchline to Coleman followed by a clever play from the back of a scrum sent Prior over for the ACT’s first try, the scrumhalf showing his gymnastic skills to plant the ball in the right corner.

Going to the sheds leading by 10 at half time, the game was rarely in doubt from there as the home side laid on a bounty of tries from right across the field.

For the ACT side, Colby Fainga'a and Prior had strong games while Auelua also shone in his first game as skipper of a Canberra side.

The ACT XV face the Tongan A team next Thursday afternoon in the second round of the Pacific Rugby Cup.

Does anyone have the team details for ACT XV v Tonga A? I assume it will be similar to last week, but would expect Siliva, Sio, Aeulua, Prior, Kuridrani and Coleman to be rested to take the bench on Saturday.

Should we read much into McCabe at 15 or was that just the only spot to fill due to Coleman not available?

Thanks BJ. Do you know much about Rodney Iona? Is he the No 12 who played for ACT against the Brumbies in the trial? If so, I was quite impressed. Also with Cree at 8.

Missing altogether are Tomane, Rathbone, Speight and Kuridrani. Two will be in the Brumbies' run on side, but can't see the other two both being on the bench alongside Prior and Coleman. Any clues?

I'd guess that there is either someone under an injury cloud or that Jake White hasn't decided who is in his side yet and has kept those players back. If that is the case, I am sure whoever gets left out will just bump someone out of the ACT XV team.
