great work Jordan, looking forward to reading future match reviews,
Would like to add to your review wilkin was unlucky to be yellow card off in the last 10, splc certainly capitalise on his absents.

just a bit from the SEC vs SLC game.
Star inside centre Jake Turpin was yellow carded for a shoulder charge but however SEC didnt miss his presence on the field. A player to definetely watch is the SEC fullback Clifton Setu who scored four brilliant tries on the weekend. SEC may not have the big names of previous years but the boys from the Switch are going to be title contenders for sure!

I saw the Ashgrove match. Don't over read the Ashgrove performance. Ashgrove "constructed" few of these tries and SPC was without Junior. SPC seemed overawed to begin the match and were assisted by woeful and pedantic refereeing by a ref who has built a career of turning Schools 1st XV matches into a spotlight firmly on him. How long will this go on? Pension this bloke off - please!!!! SPC coaches obviously said the right things at halftime as SPC put on 3-4 tries in the second half by good ball control through the forwards. Ashgrove looked distinctly uncomfortable when SPC started rumbling forward. One SPC try was a 5m tap and charge through paper thin goal line defence. What I found bizarre was the Ashgrove 2 jumper regularly took the ball well over the 5m line, seemingly unrecognised by the ref or linesmen who were right in front of it.

Im not sure what game you were watching, Pats had the better field position the first few minutes and the ref was fine. Pats forward ball control in stages was excellent, however it was very simple play by them and Ashgrove was able to withstand their pack multiple times for a great deal of time. And from their 4 tries, 2 of pats were from an intercept and charge down so I wouldn't say well constructed. But credit to pats their pack did show some potential (with their whole starting back row missing I believe) against an ashgrove team that was clearly too good for them.

Will all win by significant margins 30+, pretty much the four best teams vs the 4 worst.

Strongly disappointed to see the standard of 1st XV rugby dropping and dropping. Witnessed Iona and Villa today and even though Iona are one of the favourites for premiership I don't think they would come close to matching some of the highest quality teams of the last 10 or so years. Teams like Ashgrove 05, Lauries 08 and Villa 10 would have beaten them with ease no doubt. This is disappointing because in some of these years there were strongly competitive games and some of the teams who were mid-tier back then could have beaten some of today's top teams. Not sure why this is happening but it seems clear. Happy to hear more about this.
