I can add a bit extra on those two points:
- Tahs lineout throwing was woeful, some over thrown, but most under. As I said, the Reds should have put a guy up at two all night as the balls that were being caught at 4 for the Tahs looked way too low. If you look at the Tahs forwards, including reserves, there's no primary lineout operator there. They need Dennis there with Chapman gone. It got worse with Skelton and Latu on - Latu in particular throws way too flat to the back of the lineout.

- The disallowed try was for obstruction. A Tahs player ran ahead (AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)? Can't remember) and bumped Horwill (I think) out of the way, and that created the hole Alofa strolled through. Looked like a good call from the replays at the ground, although the crowd still booed!

Wasn't AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). One of the forwards. When I saw it I thought "geez... a bit of obstruction there" but hoped like in the Eangland/Wallabies encounter in the end of year tour that if it was only a little bit of obstruction then it would be ok.:)

Officials got it right in the end. In fact, the fact practically no one has mentioned Glen Jackson's performance is testament to how good it was.

I'll begin to accept that Foley is a good 10 when he stops throwing forward passes, and learns to kick, accurately and consistently, out of hand especially.

Too many unforced errors.

It was McCutcheon.
And yes, Jackson was pretty good, I thought. Communicated well, and made few, if any, howlers.

Jeez, he puts in a near MoTM performance (better on second viewing too I might add) and you can't 'accept' he's a good 10?

Talk about scrambling for ANY negative you can find about a bloke.

If Cheika is telling the boys to not get excited etc, it confirms what I think of him, he got the nous to be a bloody good coach, and if they stick with hardnosed attitude I will back what I said a couple of weeks back, they will win Oz conference, and make a decent job in finals!!

Jackson is ok in one-sided matches, it's when the heat is on à la Brumbies v Reds 2013 that he folds and loses control. How he keeps getting matches like this is quite beyond me.

Cheers Ash. Still haven't seen a replay of it. At the time I thought Horwill had just made a bad read in defense.

When you play a flat game, you are always going to get done for a few forward passes, sometimes unfairly.
Admit his kicking game needs work.

I was worried when I heard Jackson was getting the gig - in the past he has let anything go at the breakdown. Last night he was very good and my opinion of him rose substantially. But also last night I felt neither team pushed the laws too far and I think this is where he has had problems in the past. With a team like the Brumbies, who constantly push the envelope, I think he gets a bit torn between stopping the penalty offences and letting the game flow.

I don't know who will get the job in two weeks time, but I hope it is one of the top level refs. That game will be absolutely ferocious at the breakdown and unless the ref cracks down it will become a very poor advertisement for the game.

Foley was awesome, for such a little guy he breaks a shit load of tackles. He's on par with Cruden and could do the same damage at Test level if given the chance. Already shown promise there.

Yeah, it would have been a far simpler assignment last night as it was abundantly clear who the dominant team.

I don't know about the Brumbies actually. I think they much like Qld could be battered out of contention. They seemed to lose a great deal of venom at the ruck against the Force last night against a team who are hardly likely to be dominant in that area this season.

Needs to polish elements of his game a bit more yet but it's only his second real season in the pressure cooker of 10 and I think he's still playing into the season. Will help when he finds his combination with Phipps which while improved on last week is still getting there.

Different way of interpretation?
Nsw were awarded a penalty because QLD was offside.
So if Horwill was offside, and we were awarded a penalty, it may not have been obstruction because he shouldn't have been there.
Penalty try then maybe?

If it was Horwill that was penalised though.

It wasn't, the offside was the other side of the posts for an earlier phase.

Am I a one eyed randwick supporter or does Hoiles offer a whole lot more then Dennis?

Maybe a little bit. Hoiles has always had huge potential as a avid follower of the Wicks will know just hampered by injury for most of his career.

I wish Mowen were still in Blue, no lineout problems then.

I would still back Hoiles to improve, remembering that this was his first full game uninjured in a long time.

Ha I never rated Mowen and definately the lineout needs improvement. Not sure it is a one man fix though
