Okay, that was pretty cool.Drew Mitchell is a KING !
2015 would seem the ideal time for people like John Eales as a board member of the ARU to offer his assistance. Surely he can provide some valuable advice to our locks on scrummaging (and Hooper and others on captaincy).
Credit for the sarcasm on this coaching advice suggestion. Well played. You've summed up the situation well and proposed a better alternative. And on that basis, I agree.
Why would John Eales be parachuted in for scrummaging advice? He must have been showing his hand at coaching techniques in locking out the scrum that warrants a tap on the shoulder . . . is that right?
It's a good point you make. The current bloke being paid to do the job is not up to it, so we should get a board member to dip his oar in because he's already on the payroll.
His old winning record should just rub off to fix the wobbly scrum via the second row.
Is Tim Horan a good television commentator? Does Mark Ella write good columns? - They give it a good go!
To be fair, I'm sure Eales would put his shoulder to the wheel where needed and if asked, particularly on captaincy advice where he'd have plenty to offer. I doubt that he adds to the answer for the scrum. Too many cooks, and all that. It needs a specialist technical coach.
Eales has been volunteered by posters on here as the Mister Fixit in various roles from tour manager to water boy. Let him do his job as a board member.
Why is that? The way the board is going, I wouldn't be recommending any of them for anything.
C'mon, mate. That's nonsense. In terms of scrum coaching roles, I'm not sure anyone on here really knows who is appropriate. In fact that goes for any coaching role.
Mike Cron, after playing at a decent level, was coaching for well over 20 years before he joined the All Blacks group. That included 15 years with Canterbury in the NPC, as well as years with the Canadian national program. He didn't gain his scrum guru status overnight out of nowhere.I'm not badmouthing the Eales suggestion, or the Rodriguez one either. I think coaching is obviously a really nuanced art, hence the success of Mike Cron where other (more on-field qualified) coaches have failed. It is very hard to predict who will succeed and who will fail.
Why is that?
Most of the board are a bit over a year in. They'll be gone before long as well and there should be an independent board soon enough.
The ARU's problems are long standing.
By comparison, Eales is a Nobody.
Anyone got anything to add to the Waratah 2015 thread, that's about the Waratahs in 2015?

No. We have sarcasm, speculation, and attempts at wit.
Which means rugby season is clearly over and people need to get the fuck off the forum for a few weeks.
