OK. The CAS Team selection thing is now getting a little ridiculous, with this list showing Trinity having 4 x players selected - The same number as the team that went undefeated last year. I think Trinity came 4th out of 6 in comp? Plenty of players in this team that did nothing last season to warrant selection - particularly in the backs. Most recent form is the only appropriate gauge.

Thanks for the feedback, didn't think the team would be too far off the mark. I did try to fit Bosch and Stocks in from Knox and would be no surprise if they made it.

Regarding Trinity 2 of the boys were in CAS 1sts last year, Wayland and Morris who were both in great form prior to injury have also proven they can match it at high rep level.

If you take into account selections last year, the reigning premiers Cranbrook only had 2 selected in the First XV and 2 in the Second XV .... will be interesting to see what the selectors choose to do this year

I agree with the team however, I would put Longville at fullback as he should be a contender for NSW selection aswell.

The numbers selected from each team should probably reflect the following:

Knox 6
Aloys 4
Wav 2

While this may be hard to swallow for some (me included), the numbers speak for themselves.

I would also suggest that selecting players out of position, such as Armstrong at Fullback, does them a great disservice and weakens the team.

There is also the 16s Comp to consider where a couple of Knox and Waverley players that have historically dominated that year group for several years will come into contention. Some GAGR followers may not have followed that year group to-date.

Whereas cranbrook and trinity who both finished lower had 5 picked (trinity had 3 equalling aloys, and cranners had 2).... Knox for the record had 6, which agrees with Jarryd haynn methodology

Anyway will take off my blue and yellow shades , and will acknowledge that whole heap of factors... Including injuries if memory serves me correct

Competition for CAS 1sts spots will be pretty fierce. There are some very good players in the Comp and it depends who's in form at the time and who's put the work in during the off season. Some of the Waverley players should be in with a chance.

Waverleys Dion Narayan made CAS 1sts for the first game last year and 7 of the Waverley boys got a run in the 2nds team.
The players backing up again this year who made CAS 2nds are Jackson Mohi, Tom Fuller and Tyzac Jordan.

1sts players from last year backing up again besides the ones mentioned above are Jaya Yoannidis, Finn Wright, Pat Clifton, Liam Smith, Ben O'Sullivan and Zac Carr. Other players who got a run in 1sts but weren't regulars are Lachlan Drew-Morris, Liam Molloy and Lachlan Small.
About 6 of the Waverley boys made the CAS U16s last year as well.

It doesn't matter too much where the teams came in the Comp last season but its reasonable to assume that teams with a good number of players backing up in 1sts again will be strong. And they should get players chosen for the CAS teams.

I can see quite a few players from the different schools who will be playing their 3rd year of 1sts. They either played as full time 1sts players or as reserves or fill in players. That experience will come in handy for their teams and for their chances of making the Rep teams.

Waverley have a lot of players backing up to play 1sts again this season but I'm not sure if they have the highest number compared to the other 5 teams.

Interesting comments. Speed in the outside backs never hurts in rugby. Aloys have been plucky the last few years, so best of luck to them!

I believe Mazaraki (A) is quite fast

Having a relationship with a different association but long history with the age groups applicable my humble opinion. Dainton and Slaven have been standouts in their age groups since U10s. Dainton essentially won the U16 game verse GPS with a late bit of brilliance. Slaven one of the best in a very strong Gordon rep team over many years. Searl (C) when living in Sydney dominated at club level with speed mainly on the wing and was kicking goals from distance when he was U12. Armstrong (K) also was a class above nearly every kid at centre. Not sure many better than Wayland at prop, GPS or other for that matter but what Anstey may lack in certain areas, has impressed me with attitude, guts and determination.

Dainton scored the winning try in that U16s Rep Final and it was a good try but to say he essentially won the game for them is a stretch. CAS gained good field position before the try was scored and it was a strong team performance overall that got them over the line.
Although there's no doubting Dainton's a good player.
There's quite a few talented players from that CAS team playing their last season of school rugby this season.

Always interesting to get perspective from an unbiased viewpoint. Certainly all the boys you've named have regularly featured in match reports in recent years and, barring injury, I'd expect they'll feature strongly again in 2016.

Knox juggernaut continues to build on the enrollments side too. Hearing 360+ in year 7, after low 300's the last 2 years.

Probably not from the Knox "cockiness" camp more an observation from someone who appears more aligned with another school. Gives a nice break from the Waverly promotion of players anyways..
