Comprehensive win to Scots in the 1sts and it really should have been by another 20+ points but for the amount of ball they dropped especially in the second half. Kings were outplayed all over the field with Scots leading 28-3 at halftime. The second half was all Scots except for the last 20...
The greatest travesty of this is that it is endemic of what has occurred in state high schools in the last 20+ years - the total abdication of high school sport. Successive state governments and the Dept of Education have been totally culpable in this outcome.
So are you saying by implication that no new players have turned up at Kings in year 11 (or year 10) in recent years?
Also out of interest, how many of the players who have played in Kings 1sts this year started at Kings in the Kings prep school?
I recall a bit of fanfair on this thread about their 2011 16a's going through the year undefeated in all games and those players should all be in Year 12 now assuming that they are still at Kings?
Kings couldn't match our speed or size when they came to play Scots in round 1 with their defence in the backs being very poor. I assume that it might have been the same case against Newington with their big backline?
I note that this is from the June 2013 edition of their "Foundations" publication. No doubt some very quotable material that will get picked up by the SMH!
The lunch is run by the Scots College Rugby Support Group (ie parents of boys) to raise funds to support the school's rugby programme for all age groups. I've been to the Kings Rugby Club annual lunch in the past and also to the rugby fundraising function that Joeys hold each year and both of...
By the numbers of the 52 boys selected in GPS teams including reserves:
1. Scots -12
2. Newington - 12
3. Joeys - 9
4. Shore - 8
5. Riverview - 8
6. Kings - 3
It's good to see Shore getting plenty of boys selected. Big fall for Kings who IIRC had nearly all their 1sts selected last years GPS...
Very happy about 12 Scots boys being selected across the three GPS teams (including reserves) - same number as Newington although they have 7 players in the 1sts to our 4.
Andrew Kellaway will lead the 1sts team well and I'm also happy that he got selected at 15.
I've noticed that a few people...
If Kings have the same backline they'll will need to improve a lot on their defensive performance against Scots because they were shredded out wide. It won't be any easier with Moeroa, Milne, Abrahams et al running at them!!
He will be the first back picked - it will be interesting to see whether he gets the 10 or 15 jumper?
Ben Starkey and Matt Craft are big chances of joining him in the GPS 1s. The most pleasing thing about Scots so far this year is that despite the loss of Horwitz and Stewart from their backline...
I'd be surprised if Kings had more players in the GPS 1s than Scots after last Saturday's games between the two teams. The no 9 Davis was the only real stand out in the four Kings players you've named. Scots Matt Craft should be on one of the wings and in the forwards Angus Crichton and Hamish...
