Hawko - dead right but big big job ahead of him. cannot wait to see him pack with strong scrummagers like TPN and Benn R. - think reds neesd to get the pill in and out of scrum ASAP

Is Hanson a chance to start? If the scrum massacre being predicted is likely he must be coming into contention. His extra physicality might also be needed in a tough breakdown battle. Just wish he had some confidence when it came to line out throwing, after a couple of calls against him he falls to pieces. No slight on Saia is intended but if Carter can at least equal the 4 penalties from scrums he kicked vs the Cheifs the Reds are going to find it tough going.

Well, not quite. You basically (and vitriolically) called them (accused them of being?) one dimensional and only able to score from counter attacks / turnovers. Which was the last two parts of the analysis - the Crusaders are definitely capable of scoring from phase play.

Just read Link's article, saw Lance Free's Comment: "Green and gold rugby is always a good read". Good job plugging it :p. Good to see this place is being recognized as a leading analytical site anyway, in fact the analysis I see on here in terms of technical and depth is second to none.

Let's just pray it doesn't rain on sunday.

Not sure what the stats are, but they seem to score more of their points from turn overs than phase play. I also said that you have to kick the ball well out to prevent quick thrown ins.

It aint that good either. Their specialist writers make major mistakes of fact. If Lee or Austin made factual mistakes like Spiro does half of G&GR would die of shock! And their occasional writers all want to tell you how hopeless the Tahs are and how they only watch them so they can write another article bagging them. The lack of balance in their writing is something the mods here just won't allow, despite it sometimes getting a bit heated. I used to go there often, now I just go occasionally to read the headlines and see if anything sparks my interest. Little does. And their grasp of anything below Super rugby level is non-existent.

I know Link was trying to be general in his comments but he still deserves 40 lashes.

To what extent will the Reds game plan be "compromised" by the perceived need to entertain the record anticipated 50k plus crowd? McKenzie has often spoken of recognizing that rugby is competing for eyeballs and must put an entertaining, but winning product on the field. The Cheetahs's high-contestable ball game plan isn't the most thrilling for the viewer, but it works against the Crusaders in denying them returnable ball.

This will also be SBW biggest opportunity to date in Union on Aus soil. He seems like he has a big-game temperament, but will he push it. I though McKenzie's comments on SBW were an attempt to put those thoughts into SBW's head for what is really such an instinctive part of his game, and any time you get a player thinking, rather than reacting in those situations, it's an advantage.

Local media said 51,044 for State of O game. Wasn't capacity, but was sold out, cause about 300 corporates didn't turn up. So opportunity for this game to sneak pass the other code and get the record. Would be nice, one that couldn't be passed until a stadium rebulid...

With the calibre of players in both teams, i dont think Link will need to 'compromise' the Reds game plan at all, there will be enough excitement, linebreaks and thrills in this match without the need to manufacture it.

Attendance was actually 52,144/52,576

Record is 52,502 from last years origin which surpassed the 2006 bledisloe cup of 52,498.

It's nigh on impossible to get everyone to show up even with a selllout, so this game won't break the record. If we win in eden park, then expect a record crowd to see us bring that bledisloe home.

Just had a quick play around on the Ticketek website and could not get 2 seats together. So unless there is a further release of tickets back on to the market it will be very close to a sell out.

I think gettting the Super Rugby crowd record is a done deal now, even if it rains.
