As someone who has been involved with Rugby at various levels from volunteer to now as one of the "stood down" staff at a franchise I cannot understand why Rugby has to tear itself apart.
Anyone working in Rugby does it for the love of Rugby certainly not the pay.
With Rupa being funded by Rugby...
Finances at St Leonards must be even worse than originally feared…the U16s Nationals was one of the best Junior tournaments in the nation and has had a very long history. A sad day for Rugby.
Glad to see the ARU coffers are getting full so they can employ another executive on a large salary...one presumes.
They must be counting on all the $200 per team levies!
Or is Andrew Fagan coming cheap???
I think you will find that the SRU board is elected by the clubs. They are not a sub set of NSWRU and if the clubs are complaining about the SRU board they should elect new members at the SRU AGM.
Unfortunately the Clubs seem to just consider themselves and many don't look at the competition or...
All clubs are invited to tender for the finals and decisions obviously made for ease of televising and closeness of venues as well as the state of the ground.
Any club having multiple teams in would want them playing at the same venue or at least nearby for the convenience of getting reserves...
Surely having a possibles vs probable s in the 17s is a fair option for choosing a SJRU17s? Some districts didn't enter the state champs but their club players should be considered for SJRU. The timing of the trial is not the best...surely the weekend of the 15s/16s regionals would be better...
Don't blame the administrators...blame the team coaches or even players who swapped jersey numbers. A friends son was mistakenly named as he wore another's jersey and selectors had a different list to what took the field. At least teams weren't put in jerseys alphabetically as happened a few...
Good point. How many years is it now since all 12 clubs fielded 3 colts teams? Perhaps Uni could put some extra colts teams in to fill up the spots!! Logistics wouldn't be an issue for them!!!
From what I have heard there has only been one GMs meeting this year and they are the ones at the coal face...surely their collective opinions should count! Not sure how much info gets passed down from the Board and Presidents to their GMs!!
Have been told by a GM that the biggest issue was having 3rd Colts teams travelling away from the rest of their clubs colts teams. Not all Clubs could manage the logistics. The decision re the 3rd colts format was taken by the SRU board who don't seem to consult their GMs much!!!
Is Damien Hill kidding? He has favoured his ex Sydney Uni half over the better Stirzaker! Hope they can hold on as I put a bet on the Rebels because Stirzaker was finally getting a deserved start!!!
What's with the caps on for post match interviews? The NZ players don't don caps for interview....hodgo and genia looked ridiculous in caps after the game!!
