Brumby Runner

David Wilson (68)
Not sure if the Brumbies have yet named their wildcard player, but Powell will probably still just be coming back into some fitness after the later off season for Wallabies, so George Gregan would probably be a valuable inclusion.

Gregan will be 45. He looks fit but I still think it is a big ask. Why would he do it too?

French team: Section Paloise, they have a pretty good squad with guys like Mowen, Slade, Saili, Tom Taylor, and Conrad Smith, whether they bring them over is another matter.

King Carlos is Coming
"What chance then this weekend we see a little of that Spencer magic? Maybe a banana kick, or one of those grubbers off the knee? Or will he keep it simple? "When do I ever keep it simple mate?," he says with a smile, admitting he'd love to cross paths one last time with the Crusaders over the weekend.

The way these teams lists are going the title could be anyone's. Harder to pick than a broken nose.

Any Super Rugby significance to Fitzpatrick being skipper with Latu in the squad?

I don't think so. He was captain of the trial game last week and I think it is just showing his senior place within the squad. I'd be surprised if he is the frontrunner for the 2 jersey this year.

I scored two free tickets today. Not going to help ticket sales but there will be a couple of bums on seats.

I expect it will follow the Sydney 7s trend. there’s a general malaise towards rugby at the moment

Think Sydney's problem with 7s is that it's time to move them shortly, festival sports always struggle after a couple of years, once you get dressed up, get pissed, you've done it and it not going to keep you coming back to sit all day to watch a game that noone really takes too seriously. Not sure, but aren't the League 9s in Auckland going same way?
