It's amazing how my values change when it starts to affect me even slightly. Previously, with no skin in the game, I was all for the tightest restrictions, lock the country down etc. etc.
Now, my partner has been in France for the past two months (and we probably won't see each other for another 10) and I'm really not doing well with the long distance. Very selfishly, I now hate the ban on international travel and wish it was all over.
Have a look at this website, great way of seeing all the personal stories of people affected by the international ban and the cap on flights home.

Makes me feel marginally better seeing all these other people who are in similar (and often much sadder) situations.
If I was running this country, I would probably still make the same decisions that have been made so far - I understand why we're doing this. But reading through that site made me see the very human impact of all this. It's a bit crazy that Australia can even ban travel for probably a year a or longer, very few countries have done it completely. This vaccine can't come quick enough.
