By geez just finsihed watching Bokke/Pumas tets, what a ripper, by geez Cheika has got that Puma's team playing well, and they certainly look like a team I wouldn't take as sure win in WC by any team!

^ thoughts on the Williams incident 10 seconds in? Only seen a YT vid of it from a site that's heavily Bokke-biased but it didn't look flash & I'm surprised it didn't seem to be looked at (or I think the vid would've been a bit longer).

Thought it ok actually, thought it was looked at a couple of times, seemed a genuine charge down to me.

He got the ball on the charge down, so just unfortunate circumstances for the Bok player.

In the absence of a more general RWC warmups thread:

Wales have named the following team to take on England:

Scotland have named the following very strong team to take on France at Murrayfield:

Very close to best 23. Jamie Ritchie the only obvious absentee, the remaining positions largely represent line ball calls (Bhatti v Sutherland for 2nd loosehead, Turner v Cherry for 2nd Hooker, Cummings v Skinner for 2nd Lock, Horne v Price for backup halfback, composition of 22 & 23 jerseys) rather than decision which have substantial impact on how the game is played.

Most interesting to us is Gatland's team he's just announced. 6 debutants named! Similar position to us. A young 10 with 2 caps. Completely new props. On the bench is Henry Thomas, a prop who has changed allegiances after previously being capped for England. Got a centre debuting who's 6'5 and a 106kg.

I'm torn, never like England winning but Wales being shit is in our best interests.

LOL@Japan. Packed stadium, everyone in their 30,000 yen replica Japanese jerseys. The team warm up was longer and harder than most matches. What are the Fijian team doing down their end? Nobody knows. The camera never once pans down there. They are not part of the narrative.

HT:
Japan: 0
Fiji: 21

Japan with a grand total of 6 actual Japanese passport holders in the starting XV.

Down 21-0, maybe need more gaijin in the 2nd half LOL

TL DR Fuck Japan.

This frankenfuck pisstake of a rugby nation has ALL the advantages in the world. Unlimited $$ and facilities and a flotilla of the worlds best coaches in the box. Yet hello,15 bros saunter out of the Fijian jungle - probably getting paid $50 all up for their match fee - and run merry capers all over their cock and ballz

TL DR Fuck Japan.

Fucking TMO Bazza Pickerill scouring the footage after every Fiji try so he can rule out all the highly entertaining aspects of the rugby football match. 21 fucking points deducted from the Flying Fijians now.

"Matthew, stop the kicker. Putting it on the big screen now. CCTV footage indicates a small child jaywalked across a street in Suva this morning. No try."

"Matthew, stop the kicker. Putting it on the big screen now. A fijian patron in the Suva RSL just broke wind. No try."

"Matthew, stop the kicker. Putting it on the big screen now. A Fijian national watching on Sky TV in Onehunga just called me a c**t. No try."

Tried to watch Wales v England but their elite pro level have managed to reduce rugby to such a robotically-orchestrated dirge that I just gave up.

After sitting through about 15 mins of box kick after box kick and one-off plod and plop runners it dawned on me there is such a tiny possibility of anything thrilling happening here why the fuck even bother continue watching?

It was a good outing by the boys in green. I thought Crowley had a good showing and it's nice to see him get some more time in the saddle with Sexton hopefully not underdone come the RWC. Likewise, it was nice to see Stockdale show a little of his former capacity, with some sequences bringing to mind the class he has shown in the past - though he did have that one defensive lapse for the Italy try. Henderson likewise had some really nice moments also, with some solid carries.

They are just such a well oiled machine at the moment.

England were poor. Lineout creaked, attacking structures were well off and the handling errors nowhere near international level. It will be interesting to see what team is picked for the RWC on Monday and which team they roll out next week. Be interesting to see what they look like with Farrell at the helm.

Wales were better than expected. Reece Zammit has some decent wheels. He'll be one to watch come the Wallabies pool match with both the kick chase and running hard at seams. I though Jac Morgan looked really good for Wales. I likewise thought the Davies/Costelow axis looked pretty good with Anscombe not in the mix - I assume he's injured atm?
