Please excuse misspelling of Girdlers name.
Also can someone explain to a novice like myself why players are chosen for teams on previous years play and reputation alone.

Having no sons involved in GPS so no Bias and having watched the GPS1s play I agree Strang played well and Prindiville outstanding. I thought Tom Wright played well enough but thought the No7 was a real work horse. Seemed to be everywhere and his defence was outstanding. Did he play rep last year?
Can someone confirm his name as all programs gone by the time I arrived!
Opinions?
Also No2 had a great game.
Can someone confirm if Girgler can be selected for NSW if missing games through injury?

No bias?...and you don't know the no 7's name? Your previous posts from last year have mentioned girdler and smith more than once. We do not want spam on the G&G website, please refrain.

In fairness to Bingham though Charlie Smith did have a great game.
He is quicker round the park than any other openside flanker.
His speed in closing down the opposition fly half nearly led to a try from a charge down. Puts a lot of pressure on the opposition and is solid in defence.
As a complement to a large back 5, number 8 and Blind side flanker he is well worth selection.
Girdler's injury has come at an unfortunate time.
I hope he plays tomorrow and stays in the frame for NSW selection.
His size and strength would be a useful asset.
If you added him to the GPS pack from Tuesday you have as big a schoolboy unit as I have seen.
And yes smithandwesson I am a Scots supporter.
So for the record I thought all the GPS boys performed admirably, including Girdlers replacement Doyle, with Gittoes best on field.
The only tiny question mark I have is around the front row.
Despite a dominant scrum three of four were mysteriously lost against the head.
Impossible to see what was going on from the stands so shouldn't criticise Horton or anyone else but it was wasted ball.
May have been slippery ball and conditions but something to correct for Friday.

Guys, there is nothing wrong with a poster throwing up a post that is full of bias towards their school, or players from their school, or their son, sibling or relative.

To those who do so, it is probably best if you declare that bias up front. Doing so, at least you retain credibility and a degree of dignity.

From experience, both in life (and I'm nearly as old as the hills but not as old as the doyen of doyens @Lee Grant:) ) and on this forum, the posters who feel that it is necessary to declare that they have no skin in the game, are independent, have no kids at <insert school>, or similar etc., are almost certain to be the complete opposite. Within a few posts it becomes abundantly clear that they have some form of vested interest. It is rather sad and pathetic to think that normally intelligent and rational folk lower themselves to that level, but then you only need to walk the sidelines at any footy game to know how many Mr and Mrs Oz-Sports there are out there.

Don't bother registering multiple times (even with different email accounts) to try and pretend that there are more than one "independent" observer that believes that <insert name> is a Wallaby in waiting. Not only doers it become blatantly obvious after a couple of posts, the subject of such internet adoration would usually cringe if they knew what Mum and/or Dad was doing, and they usually find out. Also your posts leave an electronic trail that Blind Freddy could follow all the way back to your computer, notebook, laptop, tablet, or phone. You don't see that on the forum interface as a user but rest assured it is there. The packet switching logic behind the internet wouldn't or couldn't work if it wasn't there.

While these forums are very widely read, I am fairly confident that Selectors (if they do indeed cast an eye over Australia's Best Rugby Web site from time to time) do NOT base their selections on the unsolicited advice that is available to them from the Keyboard Warriors posting behind anonymous avatars on here.

tl:dr
1. Don't bother declaring you are independent and not biased. It becomes very obvious if you are or are not after a couple of posts.

2. Be proud of the achievements of your sons, your school friends, and/or your associated school association's players. Be objective.

3. Teams aren't chosen based on the number of positive mentions of a child's name or their performance on here.

4. Cream rises to the top, and form is temporary while class is permanent.

I am certainly not a parent of either of those boys.
No sons to my name.
Also being new to watching schoolboy rugby I don't recognise all players, especially at night!
I just like the way he plays.
I admit to having Scots parents as friends so I know the players a little better however being from Melbourne this rugby thing is new to me.
I love watching the boys play. Tough and exciting. So much talent. Was just commenting on certain players that I enjoyed watching and weren't mentioned.
Isn't that what a forums about?

Agreed, i think it will likley be the other way around.

On another note, can anyone inform me how the junior country team is picked? also the quality of there side. I will be watching this thursday so can do a small match report when they clash with gps white.

Like Chris McCracken said the side is chosen at the Country Champs by a panel of selectors. This year 18's carnival was contested by Hunter, Central Coast, Northern Inland and Southern Inland as a guest ( these boys were not eligible for selection )
Hunter won the title quite comfortably and only 5-6 of these boys made themselves available for selection ( you nominate whether you are available for selection at the start of the carnival ) as most are playing Colts and some 1st grade in Newcastle or are involved in Schools rep thru various associations.
So that left just 2 sides plus 1/2 dozen Hunter boys to pick the Country squad and 2 ( possibly 3 ) boys have withdrawn since for Schools rep and one thru injury.
So in my opinion it would be very difficult to pick a strong side from the 2 teams finishing 2nd and 3rd out of a 3 horse race. The 18s went down to ACT 47-12 last weekend. But I am sure they will still play with pride and give it their best.
Very disappointing as a Country supporter to see the 18's in such a mess.

Will the AAGPS Blue and White matches be going ahead at Boronia Park tonight?

The council web site says the oval is open but it has been raining intermittently all day here, and we all know what Councils are like with their oval closures.

The BOM is forecasting this for Sydney tomorrow:
Cloudy. High (80%) chance of showers, possibly heavy near the coast in the morning.

Plenty of slop at Curagul tomorrow. Take your brollies and wet weather gear. Piggies will be happy that they may be able to keep up with the Hairdressers if the oval slops up.

Gary Owen III will tell you that Hunter Hill have a wonderful relationship with the Council so I suspect Boronia will be OK, besides which Ive seen the centre wicket mid summer and nothing done in June could make it much worse.

It's disappointing, isn't it. The malaise around 18s is a bit of a shame. Central West not sending a team is another such story but this is probably not the right thread for it.
