Mate I know that is reality and I'm happy for that to happen/
That way, I will still go to all the games whereas if Ballymore was the venue I'd stay at home and flick on the big telly.
nup. Not a consideration. Ballymore is not up to Super Rugby standard on so many levels none the least hospitality, transport, ingress and exit, food and bev, etc etc etc

Yep it will be great to see Slipper and Holmes together again.
They should dominate the Tahs and hopefully we get some points from that dominance.
Having said that Sef has been a revelation this year. He has taken advantage of his opportunities and pushed Daley ( if and when he returns) outside of the matchday 23.

Funnily enough my missus prefers Ballymore as a venue. Smaller, closer to the action, still has a grassy hill, cheaper tickets, and easier to get to (with a sneaky park across the creek).
She'd rather watch NRC or preseason at Ballymore than Super Rugby at Suncorp.
I really hope Slipper and Gill are both available this week. I've had my hopes dashed by this Reds side so many times before, but after the performance the Tahs put on against the Highlanders... do I dare to dream of an upset?

We all live in hope.
This week I'll win the $30 million and another $40 mill.
Reckon Slipper and Gill will make a difference - but how much a difference I don't know.
The Tahs backline looks a bit more damaging than ours
But hopefully..........
I like the match ups on the weekend for the Reds. 10 is our biggest weakness so it would be great if they could get McIntyre to run straight. Gill being back will keep Hooper from having a field day.
Nabuli is looking like a good attacking option. I'd like to see CFS used more in close, like Digby used to be.
I thought Hunt had his best game on the weekend, not by doing anything outstanding but he was in control whenever he had the ball.

Brisbane Lions were planning a training and administration centre at Springfield Lakes, within walking distance to the train station.
It was going to be funded by the federal, local and state government.
It was all set to go ahead when a rumor got out that they would consider playing there down the track, the members got upset and the plan evaporated.
I dont see the Reds leaving Balymore but they would be pretty well set up if they developed housing at Ballymore and put a portion of the massive profits into a facility to train and pay at that could also be leased to a new NRL team based in Ipswich.

It's technically state government land at the moment, right?
What's the mechanism for the freehold transfer ie would the state government just sign over the land for (say) $1, or do they need to pay market rate?

Yes technically the QRU are just trustees of the land they don't actually own it, I'm unsure of the transfer retirements but it's a sensitive topic in the local area, NIMBYs don't want the land transferred as they don't want any redevelopment at Ballymore which may see an increase in traffic.

If Slipper is fit then he should come back via the bench. The scrum has been going swimmingly in his absence and there is absolutely no need to rush him back. Also worth keeping in mind that prior to his not insignificant surgery he was struggling with form for some time due to injury so I think it would be a bit much to expect him to come back at the top of his game. It will take time and while we are able to ease him back we should.
Gill on the other hand, if he is fit (and they want to be as sure as they can be with that type of injury) then straight back into the starting XV with him.

Agreed, Reds need Gill back more then they need Slipper, purely due to the depth(or lack of) in their respective positions.

As much as I love CB I would drop him out & move Setu back to the bench. Particularly if it is expected that Gill won't play the full 80.
Having said that I have not seen all that much of Setu but get the feeling that CB provides more coverage across the back row than Setu. Happy to be corrected on that one.
Agree Reg that CB has been effective off the bench though so might be a toss of the coin.......
